We are colonizing as of today. Eight pint jars and 2 half-pint liquid culture jars.
Appreciate this Grow Bro
Lil pixar guy
6 days post-innoculation and I have a few white spots of micellum appearing in the jars. I want a good flush this time, so am going to have patient and wait for each stage to colonize completely so all I see is white micellum.
Sorry no pics. I donāt want to open my tent and risk contaminants getting in the environment. The next pics will be when I transfer the grain to bulk or when I otherwise must open the tent for some reason.
Those look great!
Yes, they do!
Are you going to transfer these to bulk or fruit the cakes?
Haha. Meant āhave to be patient.ā
My mind isnāt working and Iām making all kinds of mistakes on the heavy-duty pain meds. I had an embarrassing one yesterday. I was picking up the dog from boarding and accidentally tipped the staff $0.30 instead of $30, which I recognized was probably pretty much an insult. I sent them a note after I looked at the receipt later in the afternoon, apologized, and told them that Iād come back within the next few days and make it right.
I put them in bulk substrate yesterday. Above statement sounds like the stuff I do!
Cool! Be sure to let the bulk colonize fully before fruiting. I made that mistake on my last grow and ended up with a disappointing flush and didnāt get a second flush at all.
Haha. We all do it at times I suppose. Iām sure that the folks there donāt make much money doing it, so I like to help where I can.
I did that with my 1st attempt, didnāt get much. I used a all in one bag that I bought off Amazon. I got a few off the second flush an for kicks I broke up the cake & soaked it & put that back in a tub & its now trying to make a new cake. My new substrate I made out of various things I had laying around.
I use Boomr Bags from North Spore because I donāt want to deal with mixing and pasteurizing stuff. If you want to try them, be sure to get them directly from the North Spore website. They are ~$15 less than the price on Amazon.
I think the Boomr Bags include coco, vermiculite, and manure.
Thats some of the stuff I used. I recently watched a U-tube with a guy using large bags & he said you can place ( after full colonization ) a rubber band a few inches down from the top of the substrate & it will tell the mycelium which way is up. something to do with the difference in pressure of the soil which takes place in nature, He cut off the top & poof mushrooms.
Light is the best way to tell shrooms which way is up. A 60 watt bulb is fine since all light does is tell them which way is up. Shrooms can otherwise grow in the dark.
Yeah Iām using a light on mine, just something I saw & looked interesting.
Yeah. I have a beef with some of the YouTubers out there. They get paid to push out content, so some of them will push out content whether it is helpful or not. If they think it might get clicks, then they will publish it.
I was thinking of your upcoming surgery & if you donāt have any you might want to pick up a few pair of suspenders. I was very happy I had a few in my dresser after mine, belts are a no-no for quite a while.
I didnāt think of suspenders. Iāll need them as Iāve lost another 15 pounds. I just canāt eat more than maybe 6 oz of food at a time because it puts too much pressure on my abdomen. Amazon here I come. lol. Iāve had the surgery and have been wearing pajama bottoms and tee shirts.
Yeah, I canāt imaging wearing a belt at this point.
Did you have the same surgery (kidney cancer)?
