When i pulled the side back to check, i could see green covering the tiny pins going down the sides. I didnt wanna risk it. Considering this was a first grow with martha tent in a new room, ill deal. I have some jars going to do tubs, better to see how a couple small bags do instead of throwing it all in at once. Appreciate the assistance!

Alright any that had broken viels were harvested the rest were left to probably be harvested later today or tomorrow morning.
Quick question though I saw people talking about aborts here and other places but not sure what one actually looks like I think that these 2 are aborts but not sure. If you know help is appreciated. I want to test the strength of aborts lol if these ae them

What you hold in your hand there looks alot like an abort, and is likely one. The way to spot em, is that they stop growing even though most everyone is still growing.
Its a sacrafice play buy the mycelium. It decided that either, it didnt have enough water or nutrient to support all of the fruiting bodies it had created. Myceliums sole purpose is to produce a fruit and sporulate. Your cake would stop everything and grow just one if its environmental stimuli suggest it must do so.
Mushrooms are more human then human sometimes.

Question, how do you sterilize a spawn bag if you dont have a pressure cooker or insta pot? Is it possible
Not that I am aware off. I know you can steam pint brf containers but it still isnt as effective as a pressure cooker. Have you considered using this uncle bens instant rice tek I keep reading about? You could do multiple bags and use the rice to spawn to bulk.

It does but sterile Tek and good gas exchange are the 2 biggest factors I’ve found to be of utmost importance. I’ve also found that a bag shake around 30% colonization is hit or miss. Some of the ape varieties that take longer to colonize I’ve also found can be more prone to tams. The b+, gt, easier faster to colonize cubes worked out better for me. Just my 2 cents. But as we all know you won’t know until you try. What works for some doesn’t for others

Recommendations for spores and substrate? Going down the mycology rabbit hole. Already have everything i need other than subs and spores, and want to start with a fresh bags of sterile substrate and get a flush or 2 before attempting to make my own. I know its not hard to make my own just less on my plate starting out

There are several methods you can use to grow shrooms. I colonize jars of cooked popcorn and then transfer those colonized jars to a Boomr Bag spread out in 15 quart tubs for further colonization. I fruit the tubs when they are fully colonized.
Shroom growing can be challenging and difficult, mostly due to the risk of contamination. The same environment that shrooms do well in also happens to be the same ideal environment for other destructive form of molds that may contaminate your grow. I recommend watching a few videos on YT to learn of and choose between the various growing methods.
I would avoid Midwest Grow Kits. A number of us have had contamination problems with their products.

I like Ralphsters spores myself. Ralph’s r44 strain will pop your top! He has also been in buisness for over 15 years. warning while his customer service is great, Ralph is not a friendly type person. If you email him, his responses are generally coarse. Never gotten a bad syringe from Ralph. As for substrate, Ive never used a premade one.

It’s just an educational YT channel. They don’t sell anything other than perhaps some supplies like tubs or something.

Cool thats basically what my plan is. I already have a monotub built. I have 24 mason jars with innoculation and GE ports i made. I have an SAB. I still need to get some agar plates and agar. Got the microscope with 500 and 2k x zoom. Got a Martha tent and all the works.
