Went today to get potting soil was going to go with fox farm but the dude at the store said they didn’t carry it no longer and was trying to sell me some soil called pro-mix told me there isn’t much of a difference just pro-mix didn’t have the nutes that fox-farm have anybody ever use it before and how was it I will be using fox farm nutes tho. @raustin @Johnzy81 @Countryboyjvd1971 any input from you 3 or can u tag some1 who may help me on this
Pro mix is good soil, it just has no nutes in it like Foxfarm. You can use Pro mix without worry.
Cool thank you as always u respond so fast thanks for that too
I have a bail waiting for some plants to go in it. No nutes so you have to feed once the first round leaves yellow up. Lots of people use Promix on here. Good stuff!
@Newb1 Go through Amazon.com they have it, FF stuff, and if you have Prime, they will deliver it to your front door. They carry a whole bunch of FF stuff. Also Nature’s Care is another good soil, I suggest you mix FF with some different soil. Good luck Growin> You won’t be a Newb1 for long!
Isn’t ProMix considered a soil-less mix? I’m switching over to it in the fall, myself.
I’m changing from hot organic soils to a neutral grow medium, b/c I have had nothing but issue with hot mixes. Ffof is the former & promix is the latter.
Promix is great for seedlings and if they don’t have FF light warrior, I’ll buy that @Newb1
I Love promix and it is fairly simple as well. Thw big differences is as others stated, you’ll have to add the nutrients yourself.
I was going to say the guy at your grow shop did not give you good info. Promix is a media and not a soil so as stated you will have to feed like hydro. FFOF is a soil and contains everything you need for several weeks.
So with using pro-mix should I mix soil or can I just put the plants in it
You can put your plants straight into Promix. Just keep in mind that it’s a soilless mix, so your Ph will be lower around 5.7.
Is that the ph I want to water with l or still water with 6.5 ph
Best pH for promix is between 6.0-6.2, I think I’ve read.
@Donaldj, help us all out here.
Ok, I would water at 6.0 then.
When using the pro/ you can mix in worm castings and bat guano ( Mexican ) fish fertilizer 5.1.1
Mix 50/50 with potting soil.
All this makes for a great starter soil for seedlings
Can i grow start to finish with that I will be adding additional nutes if I need to
Through out their growth they need specific nutes. Otherwise they will die.
This is what I started mine with ( seedlings )
MG Potting soil 0.6 0.02 0.04 1 8 QT. BAG’S
Bat Guano ( Mexican) .5 .5 .1 Will not harm seedlings
So for 12 plants I used 3 bags of Potting Soil and 4 cups of Worm Casting and 1 cup of ( Mexican Bat Guano)
They were all placed in there new homes on 01/16/2018
When they break ground pic’s will soon follow
Then when they were ready for Veg to flower I used this…But this part is very ( IMPORTANT )
You have to mix to sets of soil
1.) This go’s in first it’s going to be for flower
4 large bags of a high-quality organic potting soil with coco fiber and mycorrhizae (i.e., your base soil)
12.5 to 25 lbs of organic worm castings
2.5lbs steamed bone meal
2.5lbs bloom bat guano
2.5lbs blood meal
1.5lbs rock phosphate ( or substitute something else with high Phosphate )
3/8 cup or 6 tablespoons Epsom Salts
1/4 cup or 4 tablespoon sweet lime (dolomite)
1/4 cup or 4 tablespoons azomite (trace elements)
1 tablespoon powdered humic acid
On top of this I just used
Black cow soil
Bat Guano ( Mexican )
Every other watering I used with the water
Microbial Tea and inoculant ( follow what it says on bag ) CALLED VEGANIC SPECIAL SAUCE
Super Bat Tea Mix
I f ya need some more help just tag me ok
So to verify, is that 8 quarts of soil with 1 cup worm castings & 1/4 cup guano dry (not tea) mixed well and NO aging of the blend?
