Hello I know I need to act fast I know it has ph burn or damage but it’s week 9 of flowering and I don’t want to lose my first plant after all this time should I harvest or do some doctoring ??also do I need to trim these leaves that are dying off it’s my first grow plz help asap
First off dont panic.
Its not dying its just finishing. You have a nice several days long window of time for harvesting.
Do you have a picture of the whole plant?
Do you have a magnifier to look at the buds and resin?
You may have a bit of Botrytis. Have you been squeezing your buds? Your leaves should be losing color as they finish… not turning grey/brown…. Light brown/yellow is different. It’s hard to tell if that one piece is mold or not in your picture… I assume it is because it’s close to the discoloration.
I would certainly get a jewelry magnifying glass as it’s the only way to make sure the glands are completing. But if you’ve been squeezing buds and the sickness gets worse… take it down. Cut the mold out. Spray lightly with peroxide. Make sure no other plants show signs… it can become airborne… so a complete clean will be needed before the next grow. Fans, lights, everything.
No but I will be picking up the magnifier today and I didn’t know I was suppose to squeeze them all the research over tried to do I missed that step
Man I feel bad I didn’t know to squeeze the buds but today I’ll be sure to do a thorough check and squeeze them and cut that out thanks a lot for the quick feedback because as I said this is my first of many grows and I just want to get better and be the best grower possible… Also so are you saying just cut that stem to that bud and clear out the mold or whatever it is and after this grow I’ll be sure to clean everything
Your close to harvest time.
Some foxtailing going on. Maybe raise or dim the lights some to help slow it down.
Plant looks fine for one that close to harvest. No worries.
It’s hard to say from pictures…. You could cut the mold out and spray the area you cut with peroxide… and hope it doesn’t spread. But that call depends on how far your tri’s are developed. You need that magnifying glass. I would be afraid of it spreading and cut it if I was happy with the development. If I remember your pictures… I would say you still have a few weeks left for full potential.
Sorry. Went back to your pics… yes looks like you are actually close… just not a lot of crystal development…. Looks like you have a second set of hairs already. Did you have some heat issues as well?
Whoa! Wait! Don’t squeeze them! It looks like you have been is what I meant!!! That will cause mold.
Everybody touches buds. We cant help it.
You are fine.
I squeeze my buds too, i like to squeeze a bud then lick my fingers to decide which plant is for smoking, which is for hash/rosin making, and which is for edibles.
I dont see any mold or rot. Its ok for your leaves to get trashed by the end of your grow. Mine are usually black at the top where they burned from over exposure, I also restrict nutes in the last 2 weeks, they turn all kinds of yellow and rust spotted. Its really common for the plant to consume a leaf or 2 towards the end. Your doin great growmie. Dont panic… IT seems to me that there is either sudden death, or long over dramatic death scene. It is very difficult to unintentionally straight kill a plant. Either you screw up and it falls over the next day, or you notice your mistake or the funny colors and diagnose a remedy.
I didn’t squeeze them but I’m happy I checked back before I did … and yes I’m in the south so it has been super hot and I tried to maintain it as best as possible without a ac n the tent but temps did get to like 85 some days inside the tent it’s cooler now though… yes and I was confused on why a second set of hairs grew ??
Thanks I have stopped bites and started trying to flush for like the last 3 days seeing that it seems close to harvest which now I’m contemplating on should I wet or dry trim and what’s best for the plant and just try to get it together . I have a second plant which had horrible foxtails so I thought bout using that one for hash or edibles
Wet trim would be easy for that plant.
Remove the fan leaves and trim the others back leaving anything with frostiness on it.
On a plant that size I just put it on a table and trim it before cutting the main stem.
Probably 15 minutes of work and you’ll be done.
Then hang it somewhere out of direct light. Room lights wont hurt but avoid window light or your grow light.
So now that day has passed I see that you are probably right that one person has botrytis so I am now attempting to cut it out now
It’s the shape of your flowers that told me you were sitting high on temperature. The second set of hairs is typical. You’ll notice your plants go through 2 real bud periods. Yes… we all want to squeeze buds sometimes… but not all genetics can handle it. Botrytis spreads fast as it is a mold from the bruising. Think of your flowers like fruit. What happens when you squeeze a peach or apricot? Drop an apple? Damage a banana? Your flowers are just the same. Botrytis starts with discolor that looks like this piece of your plant.
I would dry trim what is left after you cut the botrytis out. Wet trimming can lead to further bruising. I would suggest dry trimming your first few grows until you get a feel for everything. Nothing worse than putting a few months in and bruising your work later. Also… as a suggestion… you seem like you really care and want to have a healthy plant. If you’re willing to give such effort… get rid of the auto flowers and go to photoperiods. Much worth all the stress you’re going through vs how little your autoflower will give you. You can grow an ounce off a plant, or you can grow a pound. Personally I only grow autos outdoors as the light cycle is way too long for what I yield per plant… and the sun is free. I actually use my indoor photoperiod run off to feed my auto flowers and they bulk up nice… just have to watch ppm to ensure you bring the soil back down as run off can be really high. You’ll see the size difference in my drying tent…
Not all squeezes are equal @SuperApe. I have a fruit orchard and the peaches and apricots get squeezed and sniffed from time to time. I’ve noticed that what you said about bruising is usually only damaging if the fruit is ripe to overripe, otherwise it doesn’t usually get damaged. But it is a good reminder you made. Be gentle and observe good cultural practices in your garden.
