Can anyone tell me why my plant is taking forever to mature? I’m growing NL auto and today is day 85. I haven’t seen one amber trichome yet and there are still a lot of hairs sticking out. I read everywhere that Northern lights should take about 10 weeks total. I’m not entering week 13 and it doesn’t even look that close to being ready for harvest yet.
Ten weeks of flower maybe? Let me go check the site.
The time generally is fot flowering weeks not total.
I get that but about a month in it started flowering. So take away the first month and i’m still entering week 12 of flowing
The site says 8 weeks of flower. It probably takes and auto 50-60 days to begin flowering? So you’ve got a little ways to go.
The times are average times… Some go longer some are shorter!
@rvf239 What are you using to look at your trichomes?
I have a microscope that magnifies up to 150 every trichome is clear and milky. None are amber color yet. Here are some pictures of a bud chopped off, does it look done?
Everything that you are reading depends on a lot of certain things as far as environment , pH , humidity , lights and everything in between… you must have the perfect environment to come up with those timelines so unless everything is completely perfect it’s going to vary as far as schedules and honestly I never go by what any seed supplier says as far as timelines… the bud that you sent a picture of looks good … it don’t look like it was completely happy the whole time but I couldn’t really see your trikes… if I were you and you’re wanting it to go Amber I would wait a little bit longer and try and get things dialed-in environmentally …you can also decrease your light schedule to a shorter one to increase a faster finishing rate… maybe 10 on and 14 off…
Here is some goon info on autos

Just some plants take longer than others. She’ll be done when she is ready
You don’t want to harvest when the trics are clear, there is no thc in it. Milky is best and amber means the thc is degrading.
Milky is in upbeat high
Amber is more of a couch lock effect
Extend your dark hours put your light schedule on 10/14 being it’s probably sativa dominant they can go longer , but growing auto flowers is an average on start to finish from the genectics of the strain don’t Mean each one will finish in that time frame . I had autos strains that didn’t grow as to an auto genectics and had to veg and flower them as a photo period , but if you want to ripen the plant faster put it in longer darkness while in flower and that will speed up the finish and help build more resin trichomes .
Thanks for the tips. I’ll give her a longer dark period and see if that helps
Do 11/13 for about two days are so and than 10/14 and leave it there for about a week if not two and she will definitely pick up the pace to finish in her last ditch option to pollinate which build more resin and start to ripen her trichomes . But many here has been doing the splitting of the stalk to also cause an affect of doubling the resin production that was mentioned by our mentor Robert .
Yeah I saw how he was talking about splitting the stock. Being this is my very first grow I don’t want to take too many chances and screw things up
The guys got you covered give her time and more dark hours also what are you feeding and what kind of lights
You’ll do great its just a waiting game lol
It’s not much you can screw up in the last week’s of flower, the plant is pretty much finish you mainly just waiting for it to ripen.
It looks like you’ve already trimmed the bud that you sent us pictures of. I’m curious now, did you already trim the buds like this on that NL auto?
No I only trimmed it cause i’m gonna test it out after I dry and cure it. I see a lot of other people don’t get many amber trichomes with NL either. I’d rather have the upbeat effect rather than the couch lock effect.
Just don’t do it too soon or it can be the type of weed that makes you anxious and paranoid.
Yeah i’m not wanting to do it too soon that’s why I keep waiting. Just seemed like 86 days was a lot for an auto flower.
I’ll check her trichomes again this weekend.
