Yes. We cut 55 gallon plastic drums in half, set them open-side down towards the ground, then used big fender washers & self-tappers to hold the chicken wire in place around the drums. To keep the critters out. Also, we didn’t wanna be in the ground again, as we post half a dozen to flooding in a previous year. The critters aren’t really after the plants themselves, but the nutrients in the soil from our fertilization. Didn’t lose a one since we put the 10 gallon fabric pots on top of those half drums and fenced them in

Your girs look great by the way.

I knew there had to be a good reason
But my mind had too know lol
I’m have to put that in the memory bank

Luckily I’m not in a flood zone but I have had to cage vegetables and plant on top of chicken wire so moles don’t eat the roots

And I agree the dogs love granular organic fertilizer and as I found out the wild hogs like molasses

I had to find out the hard way that all manner of digging/burrowing creature like fish emulsion too. Especially raccoons. Had to stop using that outdoors.

Those little bastards messing with my deer feeders game camera had to bring out the coon cuffs and marshmallows to catch em

We have over a dozen trail cams up & those turdbird raccoons are on them every night. Gotta get started on an eradication program. Good luck when season opens! Archery opens for us up here in the southern tier of new york state in less than 2 weeks (10/1). Nothing better than burning a duber 20’ up a tree, 30 minutes before daybreak, while waking up with nature, and waiting for a wall hanger or a fat doe to come by!!

I have a tough time up here every year in October. One day I’m trimming up plants, the next day I’m butchering a deer. Good problems to have. Love nature!

You ain’t lyin’ buddy! We’ve been having some overnight lows in the 50s & 40s, with daytime highs in the 60s & low 70s. Might go into rut myself. Can feel my neck starting to swell.

I’ve never trapped, but I’ve seen it done. Is that a foot hold/leg hold trap? What do you dispatch them with, a .22?

22lr will do the job the trap grab’s there arm/leg when they reach in for the marshmallows under the dry cat food
And use bale wire or chain to tree they will pull it out the ground

Love your style, brochacho! That raccoon must vote far-left. Looks like a tree hugger to me.
