Tested the potting soil and it is 5.5 ph and the water I am using is 6.0. What’s the best way to adj. the ph in the potting soil? I am now trying the paper towel method. Hope this latest try works out.
If you haven’t already planted in the soil, why not locate something in a more appropriate range.
Did not plant in soil yet. I have the seed in between soaked paper towels. The soil that it will go into is potting soil and that is all I have available. I need to prepare the soil before I plant the seed.

I think dolomite lime added to the soil will raise the ph but I would do a search on this forum because the question was just addressed a couple of weeks ago.
I added 3/4tbs of powered lime to a gallon of water last night, and let it sit over night. I just watered with it tonight, so it will be a few days until I water again to see the results.
What is the soil mix your using?
Want to make sure you are in a true soil base before recommending any fixes.
I just looked it up to try and see the make up of it. Looks like it has time realease fertilizer in it though. That is usually a no no when it comes to MJ growth because it becomes difficult to monitor the nutrient release.
I just ordered Espoma ap2 organic. did quite a bit of research and everyone says it’s good for marijuana growing. Anything additional I should know? And let me add thanks for the help.
When you start your seeds it would be best to do so in a starter mix or peat pellets. This is to prevent unneeded nutrients from interfering with the initial growth of your sprouts. Ph 6.5 or distilled water only and apply it with a misting spray bottle several times a day. You want just slightly damp soil. Very slightly. Stay in as small a pot as possible. It’s better to transplant into a larger pot as it outgrows it. BTW, forget using nutrients until the plant is at least 12" tall.
This is enough to get you started and well on your way. If you follow those tips and you have good lighting, you’ll grow some killer weed.
Thanks, sorry if I’m being a pest.
Not at all, we’ve all been there and we all enjoy this stuff @DavidJEK.
Keep us posted on how she’s doing and we’ll help you over any rough spots.
Last Friday I started a seed inbetween a paper towel folded in half. Today I checked and the seed has cracked open with a teeny tiny growth starting. Should I put it in my starter pot (standard small pot) that has compost in it or should I wait a little?
If you put the @ symbol in front of someone it will get their attention @DavidJEK . Ideally you want to be in something as nutrient free as possible like peat pellets, rock wool, jiffy starter soil etc. A 3" pot is perfect. If nothing else, get a bag of perlite and cut your actual plant soil 50%. I would wait until you see the root starting to exit the seed husk before planting.
And remember: SPRAY LIGHTLY with a misting spray bottle. Over watering is the biggest no no that happens now. A clear plastic dome or baggie over the pot is a good idea too.
