Going to try my first grow and looking for some advice on pest prevention. I’m going to use Spider Farmer grow tent kit from Amazon and FFOF soil with some Autoflower. My grow room is going to be bottom floor of my condo in southern Cali. What should I expect/prepare for as far as pest?
Welcomed to the community @Richdawg85 so far you go to do indoor you should not had problems but any case @Covertgrower and @Hellraiser can cover you question and good selection in autoflower I do autos indoor to
I hate to say it but some soils come with pests .
Now I HAVE NEVER used FF soils .and have no clue if good or bad to do …but an H202 wash of the soil can kill anything that may come along for the ride but will also kill any beneficial microbes and such …
Other than that you yourself for an indoor grow are the highest contaminant
I would get and keep 2 products on hand, neem oil - either the ready to use type or the concentrate you can mix up (much cheaper in the long run) which I use in the veg stage as a pest preventative, spraying them every 2 weeks after lights out. I would also get Capt Jacks Deadbug spray, which I keep on hand in case I have any pest issues in flowering as you don’t want to use neem oil once you start flowering, makes the buds taste bad.
You can either hope you don’t get bugs or do a pest prevention program to insure you don’t get bugs. With my methods, the only bugs I ever see are fungus gnats which are easily dealt with using Mosquito Bits - something else you want to keep on hand as fungus gnats are very common and the neem oil doesn’t keep them away.
LOL yeah they do, just witnessed that on the last bag of FF Happy Frog I opened. Opened the bag and out flew a few fungus gnats. That’s why I use Mosquito Bits on any soil as soon I put a plant in it. At least my coco bricks don’t come with fungus gnats.
I am a new grower also. I find the person who says with soil will be bugs I agree and add water you will definitely get bugz. I get little natty buggyz lol. What I ended up doing home Depot couple of fly strips at the top replace them every 4 weeks get these little soil sticky things Amazon a buttload for cheap replace those as needed. I change them every couple of weeks. It definitely helps out a lot. Now I know how to flush properly I believe that also eliminates some buggyz too. FYI when I do my flush I had very very little hydroperoxide to perfect pH water. I read that it helps basic root Rot.
Once again I’m a newbie and this is just what I have counted this first round. Good luck
Well the first thing i would say is mix happy frog with the ocean Forest cause ocean Forest is too hot a mixture of happy frog and ocean Forest it wont be so hot and for pest if u want to try something with no chemicals insect frass is a good pest control and a good fertilizer it helps keep fungus nats away and if u make a foliage spray it will help with mold and other bugs you can read up on it on the internet
