Is there anyone that has experienced a partial harvest and what affect did it have on the remainder of the plant
None is my experience. I almost always do a staged harvest so that some of the less mature flowers can ripen and finish doing their thing.

a staged harvest makes perfect sense and with the limited experience i have i was worried that even though i had already done it with one plant that perhaps i it could result in tradgedy
The general rule is to never remove more than 1/4 to 1/3 of a plant in one trimming. Other than that you should be fine trimming away.
