Once tap root pops

So never completely clear on this, I am germinating a auto seed in paper towel. Once tap root pops will plant in soil. With autos, I plant directly into final pot so avoid any transplanting… so my question is does the planted seed need any light before it breaks through the soil? Or just start light once I see plant break through soil. Does it matter? Thanks all

I would say you should have lights on with the seed in the soil. I keep my lights on 24 until you can see the growth and then determine what light cycle you may want. Some here go 12 /12 from the start. happy growing  :bat:

As soon as I place seed into medium I turn light on 24hours for first week or so, then I switch to 18/6.

I soak for 24 hrs using bottled water
I put them in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag on top of my cable box for 3 days
I put them in damp peat pellets in a jiffy plastic container in a wooden box LIGHTS OUT with a small heater on
When the majority sprout then I put the lights on, 1 month in the box then they go outside

Same That!
