OlyBoy is gonna try gorilla growing

Yo. The deliberate misspelling was deliberate.

I’m going to try guerrilla growing. I’ve got about [insert number here ] UNKNOWN reg seeds that I’ve acquired that I have no intention of ever growing. I spend a lot of time outdoors and I’m about to drop seeds around trails, parks, and places like that.

That being said… the plan is to germinate, and as soon as seeds shows tails, stick them in the ground, somewhere public, yet out of sight. I’m also gonna plant some seeds in my secret woods. I might check on these plants 3-5 times throughout the spring/summer. Obviously, I am trying to be discreet.

So I guess my question is this: What’s the most preparation I can do (in advance), that’s going to give me the best possible percentage of a successful grow/harvest?

I would love a 100% success rate, but that’s not gonna happen. Here’s what I’m thinking…

(1) throw seeds around willy-nilly. (eventually, this could work… but I don’t have THAT many seeds. lol)
(2) go for a walk. find a nice spot. poke a dozen holes in the soil. put a seed in each hole and cover it up and water the seed. maybe water that area once a week until seedlings appear.
(3) same as (2) but plant seeds that have already germinated. and cover the holes with a seedling friendly soil.
(4) grow a bunch of seedlings and plant a few seedlings instead of a bunch of seeds.

I’m probably gonna try a combination of everything. I know a lot of freaking trails. lol.

If you can’t respond, I totally get it. PM me if you want. I’ve had a few folks tell me they want to contribute to the OlyBoy Appleseed project. If you have seeds that you don’t care what kind of park they get planted at… PM me.

My plan is to put seeds everywhere. I just want to know from previous (or current) guerrilla growers, what worked best for you?

One thing you may be able to do now is go find the places you can access somewhat easily and discreetly, and dig out a good area of the soil. Amend with some organic amendments, like blood meal, worm castings, etc in order to help create a nice nutrient rich environment. If you do this a few weeks ahead of planting the seeds, they may have a better chance of growing. More than that, though, the soil amendments will ensure they’ve got food to carry them through the beginnings of veg before you may have the opportunity to go check on and feed any of them.

back in the day when bagseed was commonplace we’d have baby food jars of them saved up and we’d just spread them everywhere we went. Pull over on the side of the road and sling seeds, Sling seeds at the mall landscape beds, whatever!

When I used to do guerilla grows I’d just flip over leaves in the forest till I could find some of that good fresh black dirt from leaves freshly breaking down and mix that with the soil from the hole I dug about 50/50 and let it go with that . If there’s a cow pasture nearby that’s like a gold mine of nutrition if you can find a couple of good, half rotten patties laying around! LOL!

You could try to find a good spot with a fair amount of leaf mold - rotting leaves - and plant it in there or just spread seeds. Seeds of all kinds can easily pop in those conditions. The leaves breaking down provide warmth and nutrition to growing babies. Plus the organic material helps a lot with water retention too!

I stopped doing guerrilla grows last year. I have plenty of room on my property and the closest neighbor is a quarter mile away…

One thing I know for sure - you’re gonna have some mighty stoned deer and rabbits running around. Or yanno, just hanging out… :deer: :rabbit:

Wow! Great idea. Whenever I am out walking, I am always eyeing the sides of the canal and creek beds nearby for spots and always thought of doing the same.

If you going to do patches , never go in the same way ever , and visit as less as possible , fine a recipe of fertilizer and soil to carry the plants at least 6 months , i used tires , old pots , arw dig holes if the earth is soft , having local knowledge on what all grows wild in season where its mainly located in the state and fibd awesome secluded areas , that way they dont get compromised , if its work to fibd them , most likely only the critter youll have to fight the hardest , but its easy to get in and out , you not the only one can be patching !
To me it helps create land race strains over time if or when the plants pollinate , some may hermaphrodite but if you time them right and they dont get compromised , it be some huge great rewards and just take enough and leave half for nature :+1:!

I like to use a gps tracker the hand held kind. Like your doing a geo catch thing. Use a book to keep track if I have to reset said gps device. Book is better if you know the layout of the land. Make sure there is multiple ways in and out so you don’t create a trail. Plan on 70% getting ripped off. Definitely don’t plant near wild raspberries etc. Used to think nobody wanted in those patches. Good luck and happy growing.

I agree. Any traffic at all in an area with a dozen plants in a group will be spotted. And spreading them out makes difficult to keep track of. Is best not to plant together or in any consistency. We probably found a dozen grows riding atv’s in high school. Even got stopped and questioned about one. Now they just put up trail cams around here.

First advice i can give ya and i got plenty but little signal is don’t go planting around parks, schools, courthouses and public places where your ass is gonna get busted or worse some kids wind up smoking your sheeit on tv. It gives the rest of us a bad rap.

Second rethink the entire thing.

Third it aint that easy or everyone would do it.

Fourth reread number one.

We would find a good area with lots of ways in and out and not near any hiking trails. Then we’d follow an animal trail into a area with super thick tall bushes. Crawl in the middle and clear out an area big enough for a plant or two. You could be standing 10ft away and couldn’t see the plants. Our biggest fear was coming back to the car and being caught with a bunch of weed in trash bags. One time we were coming out of the bushes across the road from our car. The last part was about a 50yrd crawl my brother was carrying a male plant we had just yanked. Sheriff’s car was parked next to ours with no one around. We laid down to wait it out. After awhile one came back and stopped about 20ft away from us, he just stood there in the dark and waited for his partner to come back. We laid there for over an hour in those bushes before they got in their car and drove off. Santa Cruz mountains, Empire grade early 80s

Nothing like doing it by boat :ship: out in the swamps , that was some big ballsy scary shit , the shit ive endured in my time , thats why I get up and pray , cause i still dont know how ive made it out , but it was all for the thrill , just rambunctious , radical , and relentless , with it , it was like playing hide and go seek , so we challenge each other to see who can hide they plants the best . Fun daring times !

I’ve done my share of playing Johnny Pot Seed. Most never produce much.

The couple of times I did get some decent smoke was when I planted along creek banks or islands. Those were near new subdivisions I was doing work in so I could go check on them when males normally start making pods and pulling them.

I appreciate everyone’s input. Thank you.

Time to put up. Johnny Appleseed seeds.

I’m just looking for a germination percentage at this point. Each seed that germinates will move on to the next round. I’ll do 10 more JA seeds in a couple weeks.
