Hi everyone,
My first post so I’ll fill you in on my details, my grow and the problem. I am in the Toronto area and I have some experience with growing, I start them under LEDs and then put them outside and in the ground in one step, I have three batches of seed, the one that is giving me trouble is King TUT or at least 1/2 King Tut. They were in the weed from last year’s harvest which were the original Tuts I bought, now these were also feminized seeds as were the plants. This year I thought I would try what I grew, they are about 8" tall they have been in the ground for 10-14 days, weather has been cool, night time temp. 6 C @ the coldest, day time 20 C. All looked fine until I saw that there were abnormally large calyx on two (of 5) Tuts. I know what both male and females look like, and these don’t seem fully female, the pods seem too large and there are no hairs I can see. My question is are plants from feminized seeds less reliable in producing healthy seeds? Is this stress? I would say there has been nothing in life so to cause them stress. I will try and load a picture.
Thanks in advance.
Oleg
Hi and thanks for your quick response. How do I post a pic, I didn’t see an option.
Those are male flowers.
Thank you I have see them only as pretty distinct balls, but at 4 weeks old? Should I chuck all the Tuts? Will their flowering phase be un reliable? I only get 4 legally.
You want to get rid of males so they don’t pollinate your females. Bag it and throw it out. He will ruin your females.
Most autos flower at between 4 and 7 weeks. Some take a little longer, some flower more soon. The average is 4 - 7.
I don’t understand the question. Can you please clarify what you are asking?
They weren’t from an auto flowering mother plant, so the male was an auto flower maybe.
The question was is this a result of them being seed from a manipulated seed?
Midwest and I tag team at times…Lol
Your seeds came from a female plant . Even though it was femininized its still genetically a female plant. So seeds were produced either from a hermie flower somewhere on the plant itself, or there was a male plant somewhere in the area. Those seeds will be 50/50 male female if it was pollenated by a male. If self pollenated it can still rarely produce a male plant. I am guessing a male nearby gave you seeds. If you can grow a few legally, chances are someone else is growing too. Pollen can travel a long long way.
Thanks that does make sense. I will get rid of them right away!
Thanks everyone!
