@K-88 I don’t want to link to any outside sites as I don’t know protocol about that around here, however a quick Google search should help out for most of your questions. Image search also helps.

That being said, I’m on my first grow. I understand nutrient lockout to be a oversaturation of nutrients and buildup of residuals/salt within your growing medium. It can also resemble nutrient deficiency. It can also be caused by poor pH control. For instance, soils should be around 6.8 to maximize the nutrient intake by the roots

The easiest way to begin to correct it supposedly is to flush your medium with straight water. Definitely alternate between feeding straight water and your nute water.

Hope this helps but I’m sure others will chime in!

im no pro at this stuff but for me when i water i use 2gal per plant every 3-4days durring flowering. i feed one gal plain water first and let that soak in while i water the rest the same. then i go back around and feed one gallon water mixed with nutrients. half way thru the second gallon i start to get run off.

@Dr.ofSmokology What size pots? I’m currently giving about a gallon for my 3gals, and almost 2 for the 7gal I transplanted

You need a good PH meter.
And a good ec/tds meter to check your run off.
Do you have a ph tester?
Or a ec tester?
What is your ppm readings on your runoff?

Do you have holes in the bottoms of the buckets. What kind of soil are you using.

@plumbdand yes i have holes all thru them. i am likely the only one u will find on here that uses MIRACLE GROW every grow lol.

i also have never checked my numbers on my run off as i use miracle grow. and for water intake i have never worried about them numbers either. i jist fill my jugs with cold tap water and let them sit open for two days before using. also i dont add any extra nutrients until im in flowering stage. then i only add bloom booster.

He is 1000x right about that. He has MG down to a science. And the only person brave enough to use. Much respect.

Nutrient lockout occurs when plants are unable to absorb the basic nutrients needed to remain healthy. This typically happens as a result of a chemical reaction that takes place between the nutrient solution, the growing media and your plants themselves.

To identify your plants will show signs of deficiencies.

@Dr.ofSmokology If you don’t mind me asking which miracle grow do you use.

i use the yellow and green bag. personally i have had some success with this stuff. not sure why it works for me. it just does. please feel free to check my threads. everything ive grown has been with MG. i dont tell other people to use it as yes there are better options out there. but i find its not as bad as some make it out to be. its mainly due to the lack of control with the nutrients and feeding. but if you chose to use it i wont yell at you. just try and find that sweetspot when it comes to the volume of water and the frequency.

welcome to the world of MG growing. try not to panic if you start seeing some discolouration on your plants. with MG its kinda like here ya go. fixing issues in MG is impossible as as there is no telling what the plants will get each watering. if you attempt to add anything to fix you may just over load it and make things worse. the only thing i add is during flowering i add in some terra florres bloom booster stuff. thats it.
