No concern with smell, is a filter needed?

For my grow tent, I’m venting the air into the attic. Is a filter really necessary if odor is not an issue? My set up in the tent as follows: filter to fan to ducting out of tent and into ceiling/attic.

That is just what I do with my heat and smell . I don’t use filter no need to…
