Hello all Another newbie here. Have failed miserably on first two attempts with Granddaddy Purple auto. My own doing. Got too hot, wrong soil, wrong nutrients, bad lighting, etc.
Have started again with two Granddaddy Purples and two White Widows (both autos) New Vivosun tent and light with fans on 18 hour timer. Using all Bergmans nutes, pest control and root products. Latest grow about two weeks in on FoxFarm Happy Frog. Plants look great but have started developing brown tips on leaves and along edges. Have looked at endless pictures on this forum and others and have some ideas but a lot of possibilities. I thought if I used the Bergman nutrient kit (seedling stage, veg stage, and flower stage) that was all I would need but now Im wondering about Cal-Mag supplement.
Answer these simple questions the best you can.

Pix are Grandaddy Purple autos about 2-1/2 weeks. Small one is a White Widow auto 1 week. Look pretty good except for brown tips developing and brown on leaf margins. After first two disasters just nervous. Using all Bergman nutes and other products. Thought that would be enough but wondering if I need Cal/Mag supplement. Thanks in advance. Love this forum!
Firstly Welcome to ILGM! I love how u deleted and moved your post over. Very conscious move of you. You’ll fit in well lol.
Now onto the lady. She looks like a bit of light mute burn. How much did you feed? Typically in FF soils, I do not feed any mutes until at least the first month has passed. Usually more like 6 weeks.
Moving forward, she would get only properly pH’d water until she shows signs of needed a light feed
They were planted on June 5th. I did not feed until June 20 (week 2) and used Bergman Seedling at only 300 PM. I think it calls for 500PPM and says to feed week one and week 2. Thats only feeding so far. Run off pH about 6.3
Welcome and nice job going straight for the “Support Ticket” without prompting. You have some excellent folks to guide you with @Ds401 and @PurpNGold74 on the job.
Thank you man! Yeah I realized I posted in wrong place. LOL I used Bergmans Seedling at 300 PPM on June 20. I will not feed again for a while and see what happens . Going to probably transplant this weekend.
300 ppms doesn’t seem like much, but your soil is alive and kicking. It may have already had 800+ ppms just waiting to be activated (by water) and uptaken (by roots)
I might add that autos are like whiney kids when it comes to nutes. Some like a whole spoonful where others prefer a quarter spoonful. I would suggest like others mentioned to give your girl about 30 days on the soil nutes and then startvwith a quarter dose and see how she reacts. Shes looking good. Welcome to the growmunity!
Happy to report that ladies are looking great after re-potting with a little compost (manure and peat moss) and just water! Thanks to all for your help!
@PurpNGold74@Ds401@ChittyChittyBangin Want to thank you all again. Took some new pix of my oldest plant (June 5 Auto Granddaddy Purple Auto) Looks great but Im wondering if it is starting to flower too early. It is about 10 inches tall. Looks great from top with exception of some browning on bottom leaf margins and tips. Still on 18 hours of intensive light with 6 hours total darkness. No added nutes since last discussion. Repotted with Happy frog with little bit of compost (peet moss and manure). Any thoughts appreciated. All plants look 100X better this time around. Appreciate all the help
Youre welcome growmie, anytime. Thats the thing with autos, they are unpredictable, flower when they want, and you can never predict what shes gonna do next. Thats the nature of the ruderalis beast unfortunately.
Yup. No control over this aspect. That’s why I think photos are better for beginners. If u mess up, leave them on 18/6 until uve fixed the issue… autos do as they please, grower be doggone
It is amazing to me how each plant develops its own personality. Same strain but they grow differently and look different. I’m going to attribute it to a slight difference in nutrients??? I am still using Happy Frog soil and mixing manure and compost in with it so I assume the slight difference in nutes due to compost amount not being exact between plants is making them grow a little different. For example, some are tall without a lot of bush while others are incredibly bushy. I will add that they all look awesome though. Just an observation. Thanks again for your help earlier. Made huge difference
Not the best picture but here is my first White Widow Auto harvest after wet trimming… … Indoor grow at 11 weeks. Envelope is is 22 inches for reference. Have more coming. This one grew vertical with little bushing out. Others are bushier. Not a great pix but best I could get today. Thanks for past help
