Newbie question- can I grow indoors without a tent?

Hi all, looking to grow my first plants for fun. I have a spare bedroom. this may be the most naive question of all time, but wondering if I can grow an autoflower or two on a table top with just a set of lights. I understand the need for temp and humidity control in small spaces with a number of plants, but can a single plant or two that likely won’t alter the environment get by without a more complicated set up? Thanks in advance.

Advantage of the tent is containment of the smell and reflective walls to capture the light. If you don’t care about smell there’s no reason what you couldn’t.

ha, I guess i’ll find out about the smell. thanks for the input.

I imagine the reason @dbrn32 mentioned auto-flower is because you must have complete darkness 12 hours a day for photo plants to flower. Any interruption by unintended light would keep the plants from flowering, (or worse cause them to hermi from light stress). This is the primary reason many use tents so environment is strictly and easily controlled.
If you can’t control light in your grow space then get a tent.

Hi yes, planning on autoflower because right now I have no desire to get in over my head with this and control everything. Just want to have one fun grow without overwhelming myself and see if the passion sticks. I’ll be trying a few regular ladies outside. Cheers!

It is a super fun hobby. Totally pulls you in!! Just give us a yell if you need anything.
