Hi All…Newbie indoor grower having problems with my girls and hoping that there is someone out here that can help…have seedlings between 2-3 weeks old, all had germinated great and were planted is plain moist soil…then set under T5light where they then sprouted and began what I thought was going to be a wonderful life…after a weeks under the T5 lights I started them under my Phantom 315w mhl…a few nights ago after I got home from workI had noticed that all the fan leaves were all pointing straight up like someone put Viagra in the soil…I inspected some of the leaves and a few appeared to be burnt…very dry and brittle…and discoloration on the larger 2 leafs turning brown…a few of the other seedlings appear to to be wilting away…I have kept the soil relativly on the drier side…the room is climate controlled between 75-80 degrees…I have a small humidifer that also runs on humidity level but that doesnt seem to be working at all…cant get the humidity over 30-35%…also have a Co2 bag in the room…I should note that after I switced them to the mhl lights I had it approx 18" about seedling and a24"…and still they are pointing to the heavens…if they are indeed buring from the heat…how far should I keep the lights…Ive read thru hundreds of posts here trying to get some clue as to what may be going wrong but running into dead ends and hoping someone here can help me…going to try to upload a pic…thanks all!

@MrPromo The t5 can be keeped pretty close i keep mine 6 inches off plants
When im not sure I will normally start my fixtures at 30 - 36 inches or higher if my plants streach to much i will lower the lights until i find tbe sweet spot
As far as heat goes hold you hand above plants for two minutes if it isnt to hot fir your hand the plants will be ok

Hey, Brother! You’re the HVAC guy, could he raise his humidity by adjusting his exhaust?

His grow is a classic example of why I’m outside.

It looks to me like too much light intensity and too much heat. Raise the lights and introduce a fan into the space to help.

If anything hed need to slow it down @FloridaSon but you think running a humidifier outside of tent bringing up humidity in air being supplied to tent would be best
And i also agree about the light intensity @Myfriendis410 thats why I suggested he start high and work down

@MrPromo

First I would like to Welcome you to ILGM

Ok …first thing is your soil is way to hot for your seedlings,
2nd your lights are to far away and
3rd your humidity should be no less than 50%

Solution:

  1. Change your soil or add some other soil like Black Cow or add worm castings and add two good hand fills to each pot that your using.

  2. up your humidity to 50%

3rd ) lower your light 6 to 8 inches from your plants.
When you see your plants reaching up like that it’s like their saying hey I can’t feel ya come closer…lol but it’s true

Try that and you should be get to go my friend.

Hi everyone and thanks for all of your inputs…but this is where I get conflicting advise…not from all your replies but in reading and researching where one says lights are too close and others say the heat too far…In my personal opinion which is not saying much since its my first indoor grow…with some of the discoloration of some of the fan leafs and a few other seedlings that sadly appear to amongst the departed as of this morning…and with the soil that seems to be drying out quickly I would think maybe lights are indeed too close…i have a humidifier in the room but still cant seem to get the humidity above 30%…i should also mention that leafs stsrted turning up while i had them under a dome…but have since removed the dome to cut down on heat …i will replant the surviors in fox farm soil and see what happens from there…but not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about these issues…any suggestions and Thanks in advance

I normally take my dome off once my girls have two or three sets of fan leaves @MrPromo
And again start you lights at 28 inches or so and adjust as needed
And give a day or two in between adjustments watch the plants they will tell you what you need to do
