The only issue I see is that your plants need a whole lot more light than they are getting. You need a minimum of 200 watts of quality lighting (LEDs built with Samsung LM301 diodes) to effectively flower each plant.
Mars Hydro, Spider Farmer, and HLG all make decent lights. HLG is a favorite among experienced growers.
Def need more light even for 1 plant.
Yeah I got the sf1000 grow kit which I thought it was enough lighting for two plants from what I read on forums, I think it’s 100 watts. So should I upgrade something higher like the sf4000(450watts) in case I needed more down the road or is sf2000(200 watts) is good enough? If I upgrade, should I stick with the 18/6 schedule with lighting at 100%? And is 24" enough distance from the plants during the veg stage?
Yeah I got the sf1000 grow kit from spider farm, light was ranked at 100 watts
Good for 1 plant.
Great choice for 2 plants.
Autos or photos?
Get the Photone app and use it to maintain the following PPFD:
Seedlings 300 PPFD
Veg stage 600 PPFD
Flowering: 800 PPFD
It’s okay for vegging a single plant, but not ideal. It won’t flower a plant very well.
This is a photo by the way but I will be trying autos down the road but to answer your question, I was asking if 18/6 ok for photos during veg state?
It is. It’s what the majority of growers do. Flip them to 12/12 when you are ready for them to flower.
Appreciate the feedback. I went ahead and ordered the SF4000 from spider farm for my 3x3 tent
Good choice. You will be happy with it.
One last question, for auto flowers, as I will have two tents now, if I was growing one plant, will the SF1000 be sufficient enough through the whole grow process? And will using just FF soil be ok to use from seedling to harvest?
The SF1000 is a 100w light. It will veg a plant, but you’re not going to get great buds using it. Suggest a minimum of 200w to effectively flower a plant.
Yes
Great! Then I will move the auto to the bigger tent which will have to stronger light for flowering. Appreciate the feedback as always
Hello @MidwestGuy, just asking to learn, not questioning your advice, why are you suggesting 200w per plant for flowering?
I’m asking cause I have the Electric Sky ES300 which is 330w, and I flower 3 plants with it, and seen other growers get the same results with the same amount of plants under this light also, but would like to know your reasoning behind the 200w per plant suggestion please.
It takes 200w to maintain the proper PPFD levels, which should be:
Seedlings: 300 PPFD
Veg: 600 PPFD
Flowering: 800 PPFD
You can’t get to an even 800 PPFD across the canopy with a 100w light.
The ES300 series lights are special. They have a very specific spectrum that is heavy on the red side. I got rid of all my HLG and now run those exclusively. Best lights ever for me i think. 2 weeks faster flower. AMAZING veg. The lenses on them direct light down into canopy. Efficiency is good and heat dissapation is outstanding. 900w in my 5x5 with 3 wide open is 10 degrees or better lower than the 550r i had. Power usage went down. Yields went up. Good call on those electric sky. No longer in production so be proud you have them. Top of the line for wattage.
Just an aside…the leftover and used es300 series STILL go for 400-700 USD Today.
Wouldn’t the ES I have be giving out 110w per plant if we had to make it as a ratio though? (330w / 3 plants, which is half the 200w you’re suggesting)
@Storm Yeah I wholeheartedly agree with your comments, I love them too, just finished my 2nd grow so I’m still a newbie, yet I get quite impressive results with them. 252g for my first grow from 3 plants, estimating over 300g from this current grow 2 plants are still drying, but I got 145g from 1 plant that dried last week, reckon I’ll get at least 150g between the remaining 2 plants.
They’re worth every penny imo
