Welcome to the community ! overall I think your plants look good. yeah I agree bugs has had a little feast.
@Davyg @James68 also in your part of the world might have input on getting rid of the bugs.
Thank you for the tag @kellydans. Hello @bustergonad69 and welcome to the team. You will love it here, great bunch and very knowledgeable. Looks like possible Caterpillar damage. What part of the country are you in. I’m Edinburgh and grow indoors
Welcome to the Forum!
Yep i concur. Something had a snack or 3… u could remove them sonce they wont get any better but i leave leaves til they practically pop off.
Hi I’m south Yorkshire Leeds so not the best climate lol
Get them indoors at night if you can …deffo bugs…Slug I suspect …are there any shiny trails ?..go out when its dark with a torch and a brick and have a thorough examination…they sell bird friendly slugkiller in Wilkos.
Hi , I’ve only ever grown indoors as I’ve never found the weather in Wales good enough to try growing outside, I figure why risk my girls outside in the cold and wet when I don’t like it outside in the cold and wet myself, it’s much easier to control the environment for me to just grow indoors where I can give them day to day love and care and no risk of them being eaten or suffering from the weather when I control the environment and I use nutrients, these are what I use
I hope that helps you
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Been looking for a decent forum for a while most ive found if your a newbie all you seem to get is abuse if your trying to learn get advice but you guys seem a good bunch.
Cheers for the welcome/reply im in Leeds South Yorkshire.
cheers for the reply I wasn’t sure if that was OK been reading loads lots say they don’t like the change in climate if you take them in at night.
Soooo many different views on various things gets a bit brain numbing after a while:crazy_face:
Stick around we’re glad to have you ! lots of experience Growers here willing to share knowledge.
Welcome to the forum , what kind of soil are you using? It says you don’t plan to use any nutes because it’s a trial. I recommend getting on the nutrients on your trial run so you can get the hang of it before you really get into it. Nutrients can be difficult to get down at first.
Honestly its because I’m not sure what I should be using & when tbh.
Would it be worth a try then.
Any advice on nutes & ph ect.
Cheers
You gotta learn there’s many options usually in trios. Plus a calmag. I use fox farms because I use fox farms soil so I start my nutrition on week 5 or 6. You judge when to add by using a tds meter to measure ppm (parts per million) from the run off ( water that drains out the bottom) also get a ph meter if you don’t already have one. You got plenty of help to walk you thru the whole grow.
You can use diatomaceous earth in a circle around the plant to keep slugs off them.
if you dont plant them in decent earth, your plants will soon become deficient. Some of the guys here use Fox Farms built up soils with very good success. These soils are good for 5 to 6 weeks as @SKORPION was saying. Although, for those that wish to extend the vegitative process its simply a matter of potting up into the same soil, it will rejuvenate the root zone. It is important when using those types of soils to refrain from fertigating until 5 or 6 weeks of growth or you risk nutrient burn. After which time food will be required.
You may also wish to plant that same plant into garden soil… nothing wrong with that. Especially if you prepare a hole or mound ahead of time.
Dounds like you may live in a difficult climate? You may want to seek strains specific to your area? Canada has similar issues, and some strains are more resistant to mold and cold, they finish early too. Others wont finish here at all like Thai, and some strains are a lottery.
Welcome, and good growing to you.
if you bring them in at night then the bugs can’t eat the leaves…I would start reading the GUIDES, they are very well written and remember…its only pot
@bustergonad69 one thing you won’t get here is abuse. These guys are great. If you suspect slugs then use sharp sand around your plant. Rake it nice and flat. It will stop slugs but will also act as a sand trap, anything that stands on it will leave a footprint which will allow you to identify the critter
