Newb Alert! Any and all advice welcome

Okay first off this community is awesome and full of great people. I can’t help but notice how helpful y’all are when ppl ask for help.:+1:
Now with that out of the way I’m ready to show what I’ve got going on and get any and all the advice I can get bc I have yet to finish a plant. One thing I am curious about specifically is how to manage my light with a lux meter and what numbers I should be shooting for. Here is my setup:

  • 4x4 AC Infinity grow setup
  • 400w LED light
  • 2 oscalating fans
  • inline fan
  • Controller 69 w/ BT

What is your lighting schedule? I dont use meters. I use the back of my hand. I put it at the top of the canopy, palm down, for 30 seconds. If its too hot I raise my light.

@Neeley7 I have the exact same setup as you. I cannot afford a par meter and have yet to get a lux meter so ive been using the Photone App.
You will need to calibrate it with this par map. It should get you in the ballpark range youll want to be.

I’ve grown one runtz auto from ILGM so far. It started flowering on day 17 and was harvested on day 75. Fastest plant I’ve grown. Top notch smoke though. Here’s a little nug for your inspection.

I’m with @Ebb on the Photone app. Free and it hasn’t failed me yet. I try to keep the height of the light within the manufacturer’s recommended range and use Photone and the dimmer knob to dial in DLI. Do some reading on here about DLI if you’re unfamiliar with it. DLI is hands down the best metric to use for dialing in your lighting.

That’s a nice setup you’ve got there. Happy growing.

Update…just trimmed some lower leaves from the GG4 at 22 days. Not sure if I should have or not but it seemed right considering they were taking light and nutes from other areas trying to grow. The last one I think I stunted by trimming too early do let’s hope I didn’t do it again

@Neeley7 i noticed you said you were on a 24 hour schedule. I would highly recommend going on a 18/6 schedule to give your girls some time to rest and build a good root system.

I would stray away from doing any trimming at this point unless its a leaf thats obviously sick. She needs every leaf she has and it will become obvious later on when she will need defoliation.

Thank you! I’ve been wondering about that and how long I needed to leave those leaves

I grew that in a 16 oz styrofoam cup. Lol

Dang! How big was the plant? I can’t even get one to grow right in a $1000 setup with 5 gallon fabric pots :person_facepalming:

I think it was around 18". All the pics are terrible or lack something for reference. This is about the best pic I have of it:

Took the pic right before I harvested her. Two cups in the middle had the bottoms cut and the bottom one was to catch runoff. Ended up getting 22.22 grams from her.

So here is my GG4 Autoflower which sprouted 1/6. I admit I topped when I shouldn’t have and likely pruned when I shouldn’t have being as I had no idea what I was doing other than giving it better ventilation and better light. Plus nutes to the rest of the plant or at least I thought. Im at a loss and don’t know what to do bc now it’s just very bushy.

The one next to it is GG4 one month behind that one.
