New growth looks like this

A question from a fellow grower:

These are outside. The gentleman who’s growing this (legally), pinched the the top back, and some, not all of the new growth is looking like this. The rest of the family is just fine.

Any ideas?

It almost looks like a genetic deformity I saw once in a documentary I watched…they couldn’t fix it cause it was in the genes of the plant and if this is the only one that’s what I kinda think it is… But I’m kinda a beginner…just a well informed one with little actual experience lol…

Either what @bobbyb said, or it’s just simply that when the top was pinched it created this weird new growth by deforming the new growth before it was actually established. If that makes sense haha
