Neutralize pot smell 🙄

First timer… did an outside grow, just harvested my plants, drying in the basement, entire house smells like pot  I will have to make some modifications for next grow, but in the meantime, any quick/easy suggestions to neutralize the odor?

My wife bakes chicken or anything pungent, she’s all stressed I’m like we have just a few more weeks to go. LOL
Get a 2x2 tent from Amazon and a carbon filter and a fan for exhaust possibly another cheap 25. Intake fan for tent. That’ll control your smell.

Like Neofirebird said, you’re best bet would be getting a tent, carbon filter and fans. I grow in a tent in my shed outside and without the carbon filter my neighbors do get a wiff of it. I have a carbon filter hooked up to an ac infinity duct fan for my exhaust.

Yeah, those are modifications I was hoping to put off for next grow, venting is going to involve removing/replacing glass blocks, etc… oh well, such is life, what’s a couple of weeks?! I guess it comes with the territory :joy:

As long as the filter is in the drying space with air being pulled through it, it will reduce/neutralize the smell. You don’t need to vent.

A multi level approach is needed imo with a carbon filter and fan being the number one thing you need. Amazon. Also has some odor neutralizers I’ve used for 2nd level issues.

I personally burn better home and garden candles from Walmart for $5. You could practically that burn all day and night and it will last you like a week. Lastly if you ever get into a pinch where you gotta cover up quickly I highly encourage getting a pack of bacon. That might sound dumb but I think that’s one of the strongest smells there is and it lingers mad long. Usually when I make butter and decarb I also find myself making breakfast. That’s def clutch in an emergency trust me.

It’s kinda funny but as you go along you’ll learn more about your house in the process. I advise you take note of where the return vents are in your house and focus on ensuring you have good smells there esp if your AC or heat is on cuz you’re just circulating the smell. There’s a return vent by my washer n dryer and whenever I’m trimming or defoliating etc I get a smell that literally sits there so that’s usually where I place my candle.

I really really really recommend against burning any open flame unattended anywhere in your household. My neighbor’s house burned down from unattended candles.

I can dig that and hopefully they were ok? I mean as far as smells they have sensys and all kinds of stuff. Some days I burn incense etc. I’m fully remote so I work from home but yeah def dont recommend leaving em on overnight or leaving your house. But they do last a long while so just an option.

I’ve found that the gel is good in situations where you have the carbon filter/the filter maybe failing. Case in point, my last grow was so dank the carbon filter wasn’t really doing it even tho I literally had just replaced it. So…I popped open a gel and put it on top of my tent where the air exhausts for some extra help…def make sure you don’t put this too close to your buds or within your tent if you’re hanging there because it will neutralize your terpenes and you dont really want that. The other thing too, keep the foil off the gel lid. As the gel is used it begins to evaporate and ultimately disappear. If you’re not using it putting the lid and foil back on it will keep it from being used when you dont actually need it. I still have a bit left from years ago cuz I keep putting the lid back on.

And yes life without bacon isn’t living at all hahaha

Also, scented candles are unhealthy as all hell.

Just had this issue. 2nd grow and struggled with where to dry that didn’t wreak the house out.
Did whats been suggested here 2 x 2 cheap fan/ carbon filter.
When the grow tent was smelling too much I put an essential oil warmer in front of inlet and the natural terpenes recycled through the area job done.

First time I’ve actually ever heard that. Googled it and this was the first article I found. If you come across any official journal articles or research on it def send it my way so I can tell my wife to trash the 5 million candles we have lol

Tell me more. Carbon filter dry rack?

I have used Terrabloom brand filter. It did a fairly good job keeping the smell of the dank GDP I grew controlled. It was a gift so I’m not even sure what it cost. I don’t even run a filter now. I live on a couple of acres so I don’t have to worry about neighbors. Also I realized that there was so much weed being smoked in the house on a daily basis that it didn’t matter about the the smell.

Yeah ima need that in my life. Only real thing I see to make sure of is decent humidity levels so it doesn’t dry out too fast. Feeling it tho.
