Need help on germination please

He all,
First time posting so be gentle lol. I have Critical Bilbo and Green Crack x silver haze germinating right now. I’ll give you what I did and let you be the judge of how it will work.

  1. On the Bilbo, I soaked in warm water from the tap, mistake I know, for 24 hours and then planted in coco. This was 3 days ago and haven’t seen anything. Normal or not?

  2. I just started the green crack using the paper towel method. How long should I leave them there and should I use another plate to clam shell it?

  3. The Bilbo is on a west facing window ledge right now, as my tent will arrive today. I went with the Mars Hydro TS 1000 set up to begin with due to my budget. I plan on using a hps light when flowering. Is the window ledge ok for the time being or is that a big no-no?
Any other suggestions are more than appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome ! I dropped my seeds in a cup of warm water for 24 hours . Then I go to the paper towel method wet paper towel folded over the seeds clamshell between two saucers. Sprouts within a couple days. Then to seed starter cups with seed starting soil. Hope that helps good luck

What @kellydans said is exactly as I do it. I do know someone on here that soaks then puts seed directly into starter medium. 5-6 days before sprout. 3 days a little early yet.

I used to use paper towel but found it can tear the micro hairs off the taproot, even if you’re careful.
I use the 24 hour dunk and then into a starter plug in a seed tray.
After the root just starts to show out the bottom of the plug, I transfer into a 1qt starter bag to harden them up.
No direct sunlight or excessive heat until they harden up or you’ll fry the cotyledons.

Makes sense, thank you all very much. I actually am a very patient person, but don’t wanna screw this up too much lol

I soak for 24 hours in tap water then plant in a solo cup with potting soil, usually get sprouts 4-5 days later.

Window sill growing can be problematic, usually not enough light and not enough duration of light and causes seedlings to stretch.

Unless it was exceptionally warm water, you did fine. Room temperature will suffice next time, though.
