I think my unscientific opinion is that they’re probably pretty close when you consider you don’t want either shiny. I would lean towards just painting because it’s easy to clean up and throw another coat on in the future.

you can just attach it to the walls as they are, it comes in different lengths but always at a 4 ft width.

Man I will tell you if your landlord is asking about spikes they are alredy onto your grow. Make it discreet and smell proof, sell some bud and buy some quatumboards and low voltage fans. Mine pulls 200w which is the same as my fish tank in my living room on the same circuit. No one has ever asked me. And get out ahead of air pollution. That will get you everytime. Oh and trust no none. Wife, friends , don’t do it .
