Any suggestions? sis said use baking soda and i was asking about that, but i found that not good idea and wrong direction lol. is there something cheap and easy i can use to lower ph as it looks like i will be doing that a lot.
This will last you many many grows. It only takes a few drops to bring you in range
ah ha @BobbyDigital it’s you again, and thank you very much for your help again.
Has your tap water got chlorine in it? @monkman
no we live next to a lake, have own well @Hungrybud some of the best bass fishing in county is 30 ft from my back door and the way the weeds grow in it i was thinking of using lake water for my plants… J/K
Be interesting to get a PPM of that water
I will check that out when i get my ppm meter… Amanda said i wouldn’t need one for the first part of my grow thru veg to flower. she is not letting me put in any nutrients for veg cycle. she said i won’t need it with the soil she is giving me. when i get the soil i will get it’s make-up so i can post it on here. she calls it her super grow. i know it has perlite and coco in it but has other stuff and i don’t know the percentages @Hungrybud that is the main part of why i have them as my support group. they have talked me out of a lot of mis-information i brought with me being 30 yrs out of date in growing… and i wasn’t really into it 30 yrs ago either, had only gotten one grow to work back then.
Growing has come a long way from just popping a seed in the dirt, in a corn field row, and checking on it a couple times a week to make sure a deer didn’t eat it, lol.
i never had much luck back then, would go back to look for plants and there would be none or just tatters. i did grow some 12 to 15 ft trees in a friends back yard that backed up to a power wire right of way. they were at the back of his mowed yard and we would send people out to look at the pot and they would come back and go what? where is it? then we would show the trees lol @BobbyDigital not enough sun, there were foot to foot in half leaf node seperation
You should really get the pH up and pH down bundle pack one too many drops and it’s 5.5 and that’s not good either
kk will do @Hogmaster thanks for the heads up
There’s a link for both @monkman
thanks a bunch @Hogmaster. i seldom buy off the internet, if Amanda doesn’t have it i will have her get me some, i’m pretty sure she will have it in her shop though. She does have a ppm meter for me, but i am on tight budget at this point and she said i wouldn’t need it for a while.
Fresh lemon juice, or citric acid will also work to bring your pH down.
If you’re growing in organic soil you might not want to add chemicals.
Thanks for the heads up @Drinkslinger i will make sure to ask Amanda which would be best for her soil.
FYI my tap water is 8.3ish from our well. I have an RO system installed from a local water company that we use for drinking water from the same well. It pH’s at 6.5. Same well just run through a good RO system. We pay about $25 a month for it but they come once per year and maintain it and change all the filters and mediums. You can buy a similar system but the replacement filters and mediums are $$$. I’d rather have them do it once per year. Works great for now. Only can produce about 3 gallons per day so not good for flushing but plenty for watering my 6 young plants. Food for thought.
thanks for the heads-up @Verndoc what is a RO system? We have Culligan man here do they do that?
Reverse Osmosis System goes under your sink or anywhere that you care to install it. Our local water company ( Culligan ) “rents” and maintains them. I’m sure most any Water Softener Company in your area has them available. There are whole house systems. The link are the types that DIYers put in themselves. CAUTION - check on the cost of filter and medium replacements because that’s where they make their $$. Easier and about the same cost to rent. Oh and my PPM of the RO water is 15. OOps. Should have read your post. Call Culligan they’ll set you up. May be able to test your pH and PPM before you commit - we’ve had a great experience with our “Culligan Man”.
kk thanks for info @Verndoc i need to talk to those guys anyway. our water softener system has been screwed up for 4 or 5 years, i haven’t put any salt into it in forever.
