If you have a question for any member just put @ in message and you’ll get a pop up of members. When that’s done they’ll be tagged and see your remarks. Was sending sup ticket but my friends already have.
Fr what I can see how far away are your lights as there may be stretching for light. For H20 I use a knuckle into soil.
Whenever pots are dry, a good way to determine when they are thirsty is by lifting the pots of they feel light you are good to water, another great way when using bigger pots is to stick your finger down in the top inch of soil if its dry than your good to water
Also welcome to ilgm
You haven’t mentioned how you are checking the pH of your water, but if you haven’t already invested in a good digital pH meter, spend the $20-$40 and get one. I think your water is a little on the low side as far as pH goes. Try to get it to 6.4-6.7. Amazon has great deals on pH Up and pH Down.
@Laurap I have changed how far my lights are from the plants multiple times. The reason for this is because they’re seedlings and I know too much light will stress them. Some insight on how far I should put the fixture would be nice. I currently have it 2-3 feet away. I have a 4 foot by 2 foot fixture with HO t5s.
@Majiktoker I water them when the soil by the roots feels and looks dry. I just dig a spoon in there
@GetbackJoJo I have a blue pen ph meter. I’m just confused why everyone is saying the ph is too low? Isn’t 5,5-6.5 the levels it can absorb nutrients?
Sorry for not replying sooner. I was unable to because my account just made and you’re limited to the amount of replies for the first 24 hours, which I exceeded.
@Whitewidownoobie if you are in soil, which you are, then the magic number is 6.5. I’m a noob myself but I’ve read enough from the more experienced folks here that 6.5 is mj’s optimal number for everything. It absorbs nutes better if your soil is there and it takes on water best if the water is there too. The closer you have both to 6.5 the better and easier your grow will go.
@GetbackJoJo so 6.5 through all parts of these plants life’s? When I read Roberts guide for white widow it said a little different. It isn’t 5.8, but not 6.5 so I’m just curious.
Well, I can’t argue with the master Robert. Ultimately you just need to do what is best for your plants.
@Ray4x that’s awesome to hear I purchased white widow because it’s “forgiving” lol
How close should my light fixture be?
I don’t have any experience with Flouresecnt but I believe you can get pretty close with them. I’d say like 12"? And get that second one on too!
I use LED’s, as do a lot of other people on here.
Plants can be grown exclusively under fluorescent but you need a good amount of them. A lot of people do use them for seedlings and clones since they are much gentler.
If you have the budget there are a couple cheap leds I can recommend to you.
@Ray4x I was always told that LEDs are wimpy and fluorescents to HPS is the best way to grow.
I have enough money to buy the proper stuff for the best yields. I’d rather pay a little more for something that will last.
Can’t I burn my plants by putting them too close or giving them too much light?
@Ray4x should I close the flaps on the bottom of my tent? I have a fan taking air out and in. I have a commercial grade humidifier too so I was thinking to do it so it doesn’t humidify my whole room lol
I think the new way of growing is LEDs or HPS.
But with HPS heat becomes and issue and it consumes more power than LED. I think a lot of people on here would agree that LEDs are not wimpy. I think you would have to be pretty close with fluorescent burn them. Just keep an eye on the leaves and if they are looking like they’re burning adjust the light up.
As far as your tent goes can you give some more details. What size is it? What are the temps inside/ outside the tent?
As far as humidity goes- I believe @Countryboyjvd1971 runs his humidifier outside of the tent in the same room and allows the intake fan to pull in the humidity from the room.
Really all depends on your setup. What size intake/ exhaust fan do you have? Do you have a speed controller on it?
