My question is can you start a seed through aquaponics and successfully transplant to an outside soil garden?
Im in the train of thought that you should start in soil if growing in soil

Probably. I did one this way in DWC:
You can see she was very unhappy for a little bit - just a day or so. As you can also see, I grew it in a system with a net pot fixed to the lid, so I couldn’t remove it unless I cut the lid in half. I just buried it net pot, clay pebbles, and all. I did remove the air hoses and air stones of course.
