My first grow; trimming, growing time, drying? What's next?

I am 7 weeks into my first grow, just gave a major haircut. Grow lights on 16 hours a day, temp in tent 77 - 84 degrees, with 66% humanity.
Recommendation on what to do next, how long?
How do I know when to stop growing & start drying?
I value the help this Community has given to get me this far.
Thanks, MoonstoneBob

After touve been in flower awhile you need to check your trichs for the desired effect you are looking for. Get a jewelers loupe. The trichs start out clear then change to cloudy to amber. If you chop @ cloudy you get a mental high. With about 50% amber you get a couch lock. After that it will start deteriorating.

As stated above. By the looks of the flowers you still have a ways to go before needing to check trichs though. They’re still going to pack on a bunch of weight. Got a closer pic of the bottom right plant?

Looks like you’re going to have some nice buds, @Unclebob to let them get fat and dense I would say at least six weeks. as mentioned Jeweler’s loupe nice tool to look at the color of the crystals to determine when you want to harvest.

Trichs are the glittering crystals you see on the buds. That’s what gets you high

So here’s a representative, mature flower the day of harvest.

A close up of a bud calyx will show mushroom shaped clear structures. These are trichomes and contain the THC we covet. This is ready for harvest.

Very important @Unclebob when the time comes to get you a slow 9 to 10 day drying process. 68 to70 degrees in dark place .Then into quart jars for curing process. Burp jars every day couple times. At this point is when you’re really going to smell the aroma coming from your buds.

Thanks again for sharing your expertise with me.
Likely keep in my tent with the air filter on to vent the smell during the 9-10 process.
Never would of thought of quart jars…but will follow your advise

I was wondering about the 16 hr light schedule… You haven’t had any problems with them flowering? I had some go with 14 hrs but I’ve ne we tried flowering with a 16/8 schedule…that’s super interesting!! Welcome to the forum btw…happy growing,:sunglasses:

Oh yeah btw… They got a while to go from the looks of it. I think you may be counting the week that you actually flipped the light switch. If you don’t count the week of transition maybe your around 6 ish… The definitely moving along though nice job :turkey::turkey:

Now that it’s flowering stage do I reduce my light schedule from 16 lights on 8 off to a 12 hour /12 hour schedule?

Yeah they should be at 12 hrs while flowering. I had my autos on a 18hr that obviously flowered regardless but I still prefer to put it to a 12/12 schedule when flowering is underway. You are growing autos?

With autos it is more hitting the correct Daily Light Interval or DLI. Some research on your part would have to be done. Autos don’t care, but beyond a certain point, the light is wasted.
