My first grow. Trichomes question

I have some Northern lights x Mazar going. According to the strain information provided they should have been ready for harvest just over a week ago. I just bought a scope and used it today. I see inconsistencies from one bud to the next. Parts show amber trichomes and others show almost clear trichomes. I’m growing meds for pain and related insomnia. Here are some pics. Sorry I’m not used to the scope yet. Appreciate any help. I don’t want to harvest too early. Like I said this is medical for me. More amber means more pain relief if I have it right, more body than mind is my goal.

The Amber I see is on the sugar leaves! The flower times they give are ballpark, you need to notice when you first see flowers forming, then start your countdown, not from the time you flipped lights…They are photo plants right? Pic of entire plant? Oh yeah, welcome to ILGM forum!

Thanks. I forgot to mention they are autos. I have some Cherry Pie and LA Confidential photos coming up behind them just ready to flip.

Yeah. The leaves have yellowed out quite a bit. This was watering day three days ago.

Thanks Holmes. Like I said, first grow ever. Appreciate the help

Not sure then! Autos do their own thing, and some strains do not Amber up like others!

OK. So the photos are more predictable? Oh here are my girls. Your opinion would be welcome. After the three autos are pulled the others will be flipped and have more room.

Thanks again.

Bro, awesome garden first off. next you better flip those girls 3 weeks ago. That place is gonna look like the Amazon after the stretch. Get a crew ready for that harvest. Plants look great. Nice work @MoBilly

@Nicky @AutoMattik @kaptain3d @Not2SureYet. Can anyone help this gromie out. I still see alot of clear myself. I would check them atleast everyother day. Make sure to look at the bud meat not leaves too like stated. The leaves can make u pull it too early as the amber shows up there fast lol. Other than nice looking plant man. First grow looks like it was a success. Congrats now because ffom the looks its gonna pull thru til the end. Welcome to the forum. Where there is alot to b learned and alot that will help along this journey. Its like a second home here lol.

You pretty much hit it on the head. I see the same. As everyone knows it is a preference thing. Mine would be to wait till all cloudy. I still see some clear. Just a few to many for my liking. IMO Peace :peace_symbol:

Totally agree with you guys, she is very close. Keep your eyes on her and you have to decide what kind of high you want…

Thanks guys. @kaptain3d , I’m going for the strongest body high possible. I’ve got a lot of pain I have to deal with. Like I said there is one Cherry pie, one La Confidential coming up behind. I also have four Gelato that were free seeds (no idea what to expect from them. My friend just said “Start slowly cause they’ll take the top of your head off”), so there will be six plants in that 6x8 room after the autos are pulled. Kinda crowded, I know, but I really didn’t figure they would all make it this far. Lol.

Your best bet is to buy a USB microscope, regardless of the brand they are almost all made in the same factory in China, Amazon has them for 15$.
This allows you to take a really good look at tricombs and also take pictures to share with us on here. Which then we can help train your eye to what’s what.
A picture of the buds with grow lights off and flash on is also very helpful but ultimately tricombs matter.

Your going to wantike 30% Amber for your desired effect.

@Mark0427 thnx for the tag buddy

Thanks @Nicky I have taken the advice given here. I would have made the mistake of harvesting too early otherwise. I bought a scope but getting a good shot the main buds is difficult because the sugar leaves are so thick and I have trouble focusing past them. I’ll trim one or two and try again. The sugar leaves still have a lot of clear tricomds. So do the leaves tricombs turn amber earlier than those on the actual buds?
One other question I have is this. Would my plant benefit any by pulling the root ball with the whole plant, rinsing it clean and hanging it to dry by the roots? My reasoning is simple. It would slow the dry but it would be able to draw everything from the roots as well. Your thoughts? @Mark0427 @kaptain3d @Holmes @AutoMattik @Medicated1
Thanks for the assistance all of you. I’m still flying blind and you guys have been a help.

No with the root ball. Before u chop it. Leave ot in dark for atleast 48 hrs. No lights at all. All the stuff goes to the root ball and when ur 48 hrs dark u have like a minute or 2 at most to chop it or everything rushes back up the pla ts

Correct with the leafs turning Amber before the buds, ignore the leafs though you want to focus on the buds.
Don’t be afraid to trim a ton of the fan leafs off you don’t want very many inf lower because buds need light to grow and mature basically.

Rig up a home made tripod, if you can’t get clear pictures by sitting on something and resting your elbow on your kneww then resting the lense right on the buds and slowly zoom in.

@Mark0427 has been soaking up knowledge like a sponge over here and he nailed your other question.

I ain’t so young anymore, so sometimes I snip off a little bud that looks good and tear it in half where I can get real personal like  makes it easier for me to focus the scope!

And if your still not sure, maybe a lil taste test would be in order. I like a head high so I’m always on the early side. That’s the sweet part, you can fine tune even a indica dominate hybrid a little
