Mold on my soil

What will cause mold to start on the soil not the plant the plant is fine

Keeping the soil wet all the time and not allowing the top layer to dry out, would be my guess.

@jaon7615 as a general rule if thumb always let the top layer if soil dry out to a depth of about the first or second knuckle of your finger.
