Questions:
In the “Quick wash process”, you mentioned
Freeze flower/bud and everclear for 24 hours - I ground mine in the food processor first.
Do you ground buds in the food processor before you freeze or after it’s been in the freezer (right before you start making CCO process), then ground the buds?
Yes I ground them before I froze them. My thoughts on that was grinding them after freezing would add heat and that would defeat the purpose of freezing.
You used 1oz of buds in the recipes and extract 4 x 1g syringes (Total 4g).
I got 4 syringes the first time I did this process but the second time I only got three but it was a different strain so I imagine results may vary depending on strain, density of buds etc.
So, if you use 1 pound of buds, you can possibly get 64g of CCO. (Of course, it’s just guesstimated and I understand how much oil you can get from the buds depends on the quality of the buds). I am growing 4 plants and I need 60g initially to start 2 months treatment process.
In theory yes, but results may vary
You mentioned you prefer Indica vs Sativa. Is this because of THC level or something else? Rick Simpson prefer Indica Strain also.
I need cannabis for my fibromyalgia for which lack of sleep reeks havoc so I prefer the indica strains to help me relax and get better sleep. I do have some sativa for day time pain too but I use mostly indica.
When you use fondue maker to cook liquid, do you use a fan to get rid of alcohol fume? Or Unlike Rice cooker, Fondue maker doesn’t have the opening at the bottom, thus, the fan is not necessary when using Fondue maker?
Using either appliance you need to be mindful of the fumes. I had 3 sliding glass doors and all the windows in that room open plus I had a fan going. Better safe than sorry.
When the oil gets cool, is it easy to dispense the oil from the syringe? I have never seen the oil, so I can’t imagine the consistency after it’s been cooled-off.
It is a thick consistency and very sticky so can be tough sometimes to push through the syringe. In fact, make sure you have some isopropyl alcohol on hand as you will need it to help with clean up as that’s the only thing that will cut through the stickiness. When I have trouble getting it out of the syringe I run some really hot water in the faucet and hold the syringe under it to loosen it up some. You actually need to get it in the syringes fairly quickly as it gets thicker as it cools and the thicker it gets the harder it is to suck up the syringe.
Do you store CCO in the refrigerator or freezer?
I keep my at room temperature as that’s what the dispensary I was buying it from did. I can’t see why it would need to be refrigerated, but I don’t see the harm in keeping it in the refrigerator either if your more comfortable with that. It will be harder to dispense if it’s cold though.
Is there an expiration on CCO? I am not sure fresh batch has more potent THC than old ones and it should be used by the certain period of time.
Not that I am aware of but just like cannabis flower I would imagine the THC/CBD would start to break down after a long period of time or exposure to excess heat or cold. I don’t think you need to worry about that with the 60 day time frame you are hoping to work with though.
Once CCO is made, can you put it in the gelatin capsules to store CCO in capsules instead of using syringes to store the CCO?
I don’t see why not. But I would test a few just to make sure the oil doesn’t break down the capsule itself. It works fine for my canna-caps made with coconut oil so I think you would be ok. I would suggest putting it in the syringe first and then filling the capsules from there. Or get one of these:

and one of these:

Again though it gets thicker as it cools so I’m not sure how hard it will be with a dropper as it thickens. I use similar items when I make my canna-capsules but I do it with coconut oil so it’s a much looser consistency and not nearly as sticky.
Do you have any use for the buds after 2 washes or is it pretty much consider garbage?
I have not found a use yet but have thought about it. Keep in mind at this point it is saturated in alcohol and a soggy mess. The article said to let it dry so the alcohol evaporates before even throwing it away. If you have the patience and let it dry (evaporate) completely then maybe some kind of salve or lotion could be made from it. Both my runs were in the winter so I didn’t really have a place to keep it to let it evaporate but now that the weather is better my next round I will keep it outside, let it dry out and see what I can make with it.
I hope that helped some. Let me know if you have more questions. I’m around more in the evening so it may take me a bit to get back to you.
