I have 2 blurples now and am wanting to add a light. I am on a limited budget and wanted to get some opinions about this light. Or suggestions for something like this.
thats fine for veg. of u want an all purpose light go for 3000k
Wrong color kelvin
They only have a 2700 and then it goes to 4000. And I don’t understand what you mean wrong color.
You wont be able to flower with that light, 4000 would be better
i’m a 3500k guy myself…lol
5000k way to much blue…you need closer to 3000k
2700k would be a good flowering light, but for all around light 3000-3500k
So if they have the 4000 will it allow flowering? I know the don’t have the 3000 or 3500.
4000K 2700K 3000K 3500K all those “K” values are referring to the color of light emitted at that temperature Kelvin, “K”. Those different temperatures and colors correspond to different spectral wavelengths. the plants prefer certain wavelengths and use them differently at different times.
4000K is not ideal for flower and 2700K is not ideal for veg. look for a different light? i have a horticulture lighting group 135 v2 3000k directly from their website. you could get a larger light since you are planning to spend $300. if you dont mind sourcing materials you can build a high quality light that will produce slightly more light for the same price. ask @Aolelon or @dbrn32
I would agree with other members. If you’re looking for a seed to harvest light you want 3000-3500k.
Would I be able to get a good light for under 500.00? Could you point me in the right direction as far as websites where to purchase? I have been looking on amazon. I am converting a bedroom into a grow room and I will have plenty of area.
Thank you for the 101 on kelvin! Do you have a place you order your lights from?
check the diy led thread on this forum. its lead by @dbrn32. i bought directly from hlg’s website and found them by google searching hlg led. from there they have recommended lights given the area you want to flower and veg. i recommend you choose the light based on dimensions of your grow space and plan to have enough light to flower the whole thing. you can get more light for your money with a diy light, but im not the one to ask about that. look for “lets talk diy lights” on this forum im not how to link it to this thread
whats the largest grow area you want to be able to flower?
Exactly the question I would ask.
yes sir i had an excellent teacher
The area is about 8x10. And I will check out that thread thanks so much both of you! @dbrn32 @basementstealth
oh… you are gonna need a lot of light.
@dbrn32 can he get it done with less lights and a light mover?
I would say you are under lit. 80 square feet is fairly large grow. If I were to lay that out from scratch on hid, I’d say something like 4 de 1000’s or six 600’s.
That’s going to be a significant increase for you.
are you growing in that whole space or is some space set aside for walkway, nutrient and water storage…etc
In lamens and not lumens … You want 50watts per sq foot and in lumens u want minimal 5000lumens per square foot for a general rule of thumb from there you can get crazy advanced but for your basically to get an idea price of increase in fixtures and electric and if that’s even do able don’t over do your self and waste bunch of tie and grow a bunch of fluff if you can’t properly power the area don’t throw good time after bad u will kick your self
Yea good point with walk way in center you can do 2 deep in 5 gals easy and have space for growth then u can do with 4 600s even 4 400s if you keep them over only the 4 plants clusters so 16 well spaced plants in 4 2x 2 groups I sa good layout for an 8x 10 you want to be able to tend to all of your plant equally take it from me I got a 6 foot by 2 feet deep whole in a wall and I’m packed in there every square inch and unless i take the dry wall out I can’t even water my back 4 out of 10 plants let alone prune or Lst or let alone just plain take care of them
