Lighting switch?

used 400w+ full spec LED for veg, now in 4th week flower, all looks good, waiting for buds to swell up nice and fat. Possible to switch to 600 hps for last 4 weeks? Does it matter now? benefit or not?

You shouldn’t have a problem switching, but the question is whether or not the HPS will deliver more PPF and/or better spectrum than your current lighting. Tell us more about your ~400w LED.

In the words of the TOOL TIME TIM ALLEN (aka Tim Taylor) MORE POWER is good.

Indeed…The question here is how much of that additional power is producing additional light vs creating more heat.

DLI? hours? height above crown?

Great point. A lot of the wattage an HPS consumes goes toward generating heat rather than light.

If I can burn 20% more fuel in my skidoo and get 10% more HP I will do it. Provided I can afford the fuel and my engine don’t overheat. I don’t care how much waste is goin out the pipe. To each his own

My first year with LED lights.
Actually my first year in forty, since 1000HPS, was awesome.
Can we reset the FLUX-CAPACITOR?
HPS was warm all winter and cured bud in a day for smoking.
Fall harvest was ok but currently I am having trouble heating tents during winter and HPS would fix that problem. Next winter maybe.

Probably a good choice. LEDs are 70 - 90% efficient while HPS is only about 40% efficient (watts to PAR). A general estimate would be that you would need to run a 600 watt HPS to achieve the results of a quality 400 watt LED fixture, give or take.

@dbrn32 Thoughts on the Ledestar 302h diodes? They look pretty capable to me, but I’d not heard of them until today.

I haven’t heard of them either. My guess is they’re stretching truth on performance of their leds.
