Should I use full power on my lights for seedlings?
That depends on the output wattage of your light. I use a T5 fluorescent or Set one of my bigger lights at a DLI of 15 then slowly increase through the growth stages
Most people will say you shouldn’t. I say you can just raise the lights or dim a little bit.…. A lot depends on the light you’re using the heat that comes off that light the intensity. There’s a great Par-meter you can download for your phone called Photon. It works really well for PAR readings…short answer Be Careful….
I use a hlg 65 for seedlings until a couple weeks after transplant. Then drop in the hlg 260xlr on full dim. The 65 does a great job on the seedlings.
a sweet little gem
The app is called Photone sorry…… I started seedlings directly underneath the summer sun in a 5 gallon fabric pot early summer. Remember if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for the plant and believe it or not these plants are more durable than you would think.
Hlg tossed it in as a perk when i upgraded my old v2 Qb in my 260xl to the r type boards. Does a great job and the seedlings love it. No dimmer but if seedling starts to stretch lower it, if she spuats and stacks nodes raise it. Reaction is quick.
