Thinking I should take the glass out for better light. It’s a 1000w. Would I get better results?
They say like three percent more but you might get more heat ? … I would take it out if heat wouldn’t be a factor, but you can’t splash it, no misting, no water at all near it or it’ll explode (implode?)…be very careful
Like say @Paranorman the glass is mainly for protection and the gain in lux is not worth the fire hazard coming from remove it.
Hoping that’s useful information @Thenakedmason

That’s what I was thinking, but again I thought I’d loose some of the lights juice from the glass. Thanks for the input.
It is thank you. 2 against so the glass stays. Thanks
Keep the glass… you can keep it closer plus all the other benefits described above. …
I started my grow with the glass out of my 600 watt air cooled light, and it raised the temps too much while disrupting the air cooled hood dynamics.
I did a little research on this, the only thing that the glass will block would be the UV.
I had a 600-watt MH full Nova bulb in a 8 inch easy cool hood… I opened it one day with it running to clean the glass, the amount of heat coming out of that hood was horrible, even with the cooling fan running.
Thanks… I opened mine the other day… BAD… I have everything in a room running before i put plants in it. Trial run for temp and hum. I have my fan figured out that cools the hood and pretty much the room. So know i have marks at 70F and 80F. The only problem is RH. Its still only at 24% no matter what temp. I’m thinking when I get some wet soil going in there it will go up a little but am going to try the wet towel thing for a few days and see what happens. If the results are not what I want then I’ll buy more equipment. Anyone reading this have an opinion on a humidifier for a room size of 6 by 8? I like my Tech so something good with settings for time and RH. I have been doing a little reading and have some ideas, but opinions are always welcome.
Also @Traumamedic @Paranorman @peachfuzz @Niala @kabongster have you used those cool tubes? Just curious. Pros and cons as opposed to the glass hoods I have now.
Thanks for Your Time,
Naked Mason
I have use HID lights in a recent past, however, never use them for cannabis growing, so, I let the other manage your question about it. For the humidifier, we need the volume of your growing space (length x width x height). I can help but @Countryboyjvd1971 is your man with HVAC…

I had a 8-inch Cool Tube before I got my easy cool 8 Hood.
Didn’t take me too long to get rid of that.
The reason I didn’t like it was because they only come with the wings on them.
Which seem to me a lot of light was being wasted on the walls rather than focused downward on my plants by the hood.
The other thing I like about my hood, is that the socket is adjustable up and down in the hood.
I use this to increase or decrease the size of my footprint.
Granted, the tube did seem to remove more heat. But heat for me is not an issue since my grow room is in a basement.
My temperatures don’t hardly fluctuate at all, they’re generally 68 to 74 degrees.
This is just my two cents, I hope it helps.
@Thenakedmason try this hang a towel and leave a few inches of it in a pan of water then place fan in front of that pulling air through towel not blowing on it fan should be as close as possible maybe a inch
Let me know if that helps also if you can slow your exhaust a little that might help
I’ll look for a few options and get back to you with options I use a whole house humidifier outside my tent and maintain around 60% outside tent during veg and 45/50% during flower
Let me know CB
Thanks @Niala always ready to help a fellow grower👍
This is what I use when I need to increase humidity. Generally I’m decreasing.
But I like this unit, because it’s got three speeds slow, hi, and automatic.
I like the automatic setting, because it just maintains whatever you’ve programmed it to.
It does have a few small LED lights on it.
But I just took care of that with a piece of black electrical tape.
I knew that you are the man for this And you’re welcome bro
Sorry I always come in late to these things guys but unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time and what time I do Got is so limited I don’t know weather to s*** or scatter …but either way I have the 8-inch ducted xxxxl hoods running 600 watt HPS bulbs on magnetic ballasts that I use and I love them …even when my temperatures are a hundred and thirty degrees outside if I pull enough air through them they tend to stay kind of cool …you gotta understand my Summers get to be a 125 to 140 deg and that sounds crazy but nobody ever promotes it on the news …they don’t want to scare people away from here …so unlike @Donaldj I am fighting the complete opposite … LOL
But back to your original question I actually vent my lights from outside through my lights and then back outside or a have a y with baffles… it will either suck air from through my room into the lights and back out of the room… or I can completely block the room off so no air is moving through the room and I can run CO2 and just add air conditioning … or just move air through the room and not bring any air from outside or whatever the hell I want … but either way it helps tremendously and it’s also a big-time pain in the butt …but if you’re going to use HID lights you must understand that heat comes with that and in my case they’re in my area , so they create a lot of heat which I am actually going to be getting out of my area before this summer comes … I’m doing a lot of new changes… but we all do that …LOL sorry for rambling guys , I’m on one…
That’s a nice unit and would work fine for you @Thenakedmason
Good link bro Vornado makes some nice stuff
Big fan of there equipment @Traumamedic
Sweet… I ordered two of those yesterday, but until i get them I hit the Slum-Mart up and bought one of those cool mist things. Turned it on two hrs ago and already went up to 37%. The little people are going to like it. I did a mist with my sprayer also. Thanks for the help. The girls and I appreciate everyone’s help. I have the setup in a very large basement and its always 60 65F and a RH of 20 or so. Im keeping the temp at 75F with my vent fan set at 3/4 to max. I just might have to enlarge my hole for air in. I just drilled a few holes at the bottom of a wall. Thinking a 4in hole instead and see how much that brings the heat down so i can turn my fan down more. Give me more wiggle room…
Thanks again…
Yea, I looked it up and did a little reading with a beer. I like the name. Gots me a Vornado in the Bunker!!
Sheeez… Seems your heat where you are is phenomenal. Id have to have a pool. Being a Mason, Id have to get a new trade. No way would I work in that heat, but being in the Mitten State I could use a little heat now. Just not that extreme.
Thanks for the thoughts and info.
