Let's talk DIY lights

You could get 20 of the QB128s with 5 drivers for less that a HLG 300 :muscle:t5:

Okay I’ve asked them about the current and forward voltage. Hoping for a good answer.

Also asked for the price on 20 boards, @boardsbird. This cabinet is going to be lit. Pun intended.

I’m getting excited.

20 hlg boards? jealous

I don’t usually recommend it, but if you’re gonna do a shitload of boards you can save some cash going with a constant voltage supply and wiring in parallel on bigger drivers.

No no 20 not for me. :cocktail:: I’m doing this grow with 2 400 Watt ones and if it works i’ll just use them from now on. @dbrn32 I finally figured out the manual for the VIVIDGRO lights “Thanks you for not calling me a dumbass for what I told you”
So the light’s come in 3 different models (wide, medium, aisle) I fell backwards into the medium model that workout out perfect for me. I have them hanging at the recommended 18" giving an average 500-600 umols. 1000w HPS equivalent. Hanging 2 in a 4x4 they say it will make 600-700 making it >1000w . I don’t need that much light or the power bill. Thinking the PowerPar400 is on the chopping block too
Thanks for all your help

I managed to get the info, but it’s for the 304 quantum board, not the 128. Thought I’d share it anyway, maybe it works out better:

This is our 304 quantum board with Samsung lm561c s6 top bin leds. The forward voltage is 106V-110V at 1050mA, we suggest you use HLG-240H-C2100B driver drive 2pcs 304 boards, or HLG-480H-C2100B driver drive 4pcs 304 boards.
The best price is USD25.35/pc,

Here’s a link to the board she is referring to.

I’ve asked her for the same info for the QB128 board, but have not had a reply yet.

Looks great brother! We’re light twins haha

So they want you to run the boards at 55ish watts each? You can do that with smaller boards and save $10 per board lol.

Won’t see too many of those, especially if you don’t look at ^ thread lol.

Waiting on my built till I can figure out how to make the light fold in 1/2 like the SPYDR p2 light does

Okay I finally got more feedback on the 128 board.

128 quantum board parameter: pcb board size is 286 x 174 x 1.6mm, 1.0/W conductivity, 1OZ, 16s8p, 20-60W, 43.2-49.6V, 480-1200mA, 128pcs Samsung 561C s6 leds. the best price is $15.55/pc

The forward voltage is 44.8V-46.4V at 1050mA

MW HLG-60H-48B driver can drive 1pc 128 pcb board, Parallel wiring

MW HLG-120H-48B driver can drive 2pcs 128 pcb board, Parallel wiring

MW HLG-240H-48B driver can drive 4pcs 128 pcb board, Parallel wiring

MW HLG-320H-C1050B driver can drive 6pcs 128 pcb board, Series wiring.

I asked her specifically if the board will run passively at 1200mA and this was her reply:

yes, you can run our 128 board at 1200mA.
