I suggest spraying them with something like Cap’t Jack’s dead bug spray spinosad. Or bacillus thuringiensis (BT) bacteria which kills larva and prevents caterpillars from being able to eat.
This is what I found earlier in the season in my colas. They also bored into the stems.


I eventually lost all of plants to bud rot. I do not know if the rot was related to damage caused by the caterpillars or not. Just be aware
