Last week of flower. Should I harvest the whole plant or parts?

I’m growing 4 plants. All are within the same week of harvest. Should I harvest the whole plants or only the parts that are ripe?

I only harvest what is ripe. It usually takes the flowers under the canopy another several days to a week to ripen properly. They’ll ripen up pretty quick once the canopy is gone and they get plenty of light.

I have read to put your plants in darkness for 48 hours. I have buds that are ready to be harvest, but some are not ready. How important is it to put them in darkness. Can I harvest the ones that is ready and place them in darkness while they are curing?

Some growers prefer darkness for drying and curing (after the harvest.) I put long-term storage weed in darkness, but I’m not convinced it makes a difference for drying and curing.
