I’d imagine the paper labels on some water bottles could potentially be an issue from deteriorating. I don’t think the plastic ones will be an issue. I’m not a hydro guy but I’m sure the systems have some sort of strainer or passage that could get stopped up. Just a thought.
My system is a single bucket non recirculating system, no plumbing on my tank for anything to clog up if thats what you were saying, however i will remove the labels to be safe!
Lol it was just the first thought that popped into my head when I seen the picture. IDK how any of that works lol. Here’s my version of a DWC
It was in soil and wound up with too many plants so I threw it in there like 2 weeks ago. It’s not growing but it’s not dying!
Oh man! Thats gonna be great! It probably isnt growing because they roots will need time to transition from the soil to hydro, just my guess, but with the fish waste and looks like excelent filtration, im sure that plant will explode with growth! I would be worried about the fish eating the roots as they grow and flow through the water like worms if the net pot doesnt feed into a seperate area the fish cant get to, how do you go about giving nutrients? Id be worried about hurting the fish but i know people do stuff like this with amazing results, id love updates! Thats awesome
Honestly she was an extra plant from an experiment with a mycorrhiza fungus and just threw her in there. I would imagine the fish probably provide lots of beneficials as I use pond sludge and filter sediment as well as some pond water in all my compost teas.
Funny you mention, I’ve observed them snacking on the roots periodically. They’re never hungry they get fed numerous times a day by each member of the house lol.
You’ve now made me interested, I suppose I could foliar feed?.? I wouldn’t be concerned with quantity or even quality… with the amount of splashing water rot may be an issue… I do live in the desert though very dry
Here’s my journal link. The pond plant has some updates in there, thats where I’ll keep it updated. Soil dwelling indoor. I do some pretty monster outdoors every year. There’s some pics of that in there too. Enjoy!
Noticed this issue today, believe it is nutrient burns? My PPM was sitting in the 1000s then down to the high 900s by tonight, i have already done a full system flush including foxfarms OMRI rated organic sledgehammer flush formula, i let that sit in the old water for an hour, then i removed all the old water and replaced it with fresh filtered water, ph’d to 5.8 and added nutes including cal-mag, silica, foxfarm big bloom, foxfarm grow big, foxfarm root drench and fox farm micro brew at an even more cut back scale, my ppm is now sitting at 685 i believe it was, anything else i should do?
What were the nutrient issues?
Its my first grow so im still figuring everything out, but i think i just had too much nutrients and was starting to burn the plant, so i lowered the levels
The are thriving for sure. Keep up the great work
Officially 1 month since i planted my first seed! Its been wonderful so far and im looking forward to learning as much as i possibly can during the rest of this grow and starting my next! Ive got big plans for my next grow but definitely a few things i still need to take care of before im comfortable starting my larger 6 plant project, absolutely am gonna need my chiller up and working before that! No way im keeping up with freezing enough water bottles for that large of a system also i NEED better lighting if im going to be attemping to grow 6 plants
Lookin good. Keep doing what your doing,
Got more training done, i got every branch as low as i was able to! Will continue with more growth, ive added a picture pointing out the two main stems just because
I love new stuff.
