This is my first grow of some bag seed, I’ve never grown any plant of any kind before this. One seed was said to be platinum kush while the other is unknown. I switched to 12/12 5 weeks ago. Do they look okay? I suffered some minor nut burn in veg due to using cheap plant nutes (doh!)
Uploading…@hondaburritos420 welcome to the forum! They look ok, but the reason they look on the smaller side, is the insufficient lighting. If you’re satisfied with a smaller yield, then they look great. If you’d like some assistance with better lighting, dont hesitate to tag one of us. Like @Covertgrower, so we get notified and we will be sure to stop by. Happy growing!
Thank you for the warm welcome friend! I’m just using 6x60 watt CFLs at the moment, I plan on upgrading to a led or adding more cfls for my next grow
@hondaburritos420 warm welcomes is what this place is about! Be sure to read on the forum to earn more responses. Right now because you’re new, you’ll be limited for awhile.
When you’re ready for an upgrade, there are several members here that are great with LED’s if that’s the route you’d like to go with. @dbrn32 is the LED Guru and extremely knowledgable. If you let him know your budget, he can work with that.
Thanks for kind words bro!
@hondaburritos420 that’s what happened, your plants stretched looking for light intensity. Otherwise they look to be doing fairly well.
Those cfl’s are 60 watt equivalent right, so between 10-15 Watts actual power draw? We generally like to speak in those actual power terms to avoid any confusion. You can probably take the ones off the floor and try and get them up. To the best of my knowledge, plants don’t really absorb much from the bottom of leaves. Are they cold white or warm white bulbs?
Otherwise, just try to make the situation with the cfls the best you can and ride her out. With a few tweaks you can get a better handle on the next one.
Yeah I was kind of thinking that, I also was too afraid to do much training to either of them, I did veg them for 6 weeks though
But I believe so on the power draw sorry for any confusion I had seen people referencing them like that in other posts and I didn’t even think about it haha
I’m using a mix of the cold 2700k white and warm white 6500k daylights
3 of each
I just had the two in the front to try and distribute light to lower bud sites, and with the plants having about a foot difference in height I thought it would help haha I’m still learning I suppose!
No problem bud. For what it’s worth probably not going to make a huge difference at this point, so if you like them there that’s probably fine.
I take it you’re rocking the cfl’s due to budgetary constraints? You can do quite a bit with them and a little ingenuity.
I’ll deffiently be thinking of a different way to arrange them for next time however as @Covertgrower had said you’re the guy to talk to about LEDs. I’m trying to stay under $150 which if that’s too small of a budget I’ve thought about getting more cfls and such
But yeah I hadn’t really planned this grow out as far as a budget, or what my goals were or anything at all I had just came across some seeds and decided to germinate them for shits and giggles and I ended up having to toss a grow area (my closet) together a lot sooner (with a very small budget) then I would have liked too but it’s been a lot of fun
How big is your space?
34 inches across
28 inches wide
72 inches tall
How are you at assembling stuff? For $150ish you could do something real nice with some led strips. Will be hands down better than anything you can buy for that price.
I’m learning as I go haha I’m pretty into diy anything though my other hobby is fixing cars. I don’t know how to saulder yet though
Ha, not soldering no issue for me partner. I’ll hook you up real good. They’re called poke in connectors lol! I can solder like mf, I just prefer not to if I don’t have to.
I don’t suppose you’ll make it any easier and say you have a stash of aluminum plate or bar stock?
Are you talking about the led strips you can use for lighting around a room? The flat ones for like accent lighting Haha
And no I do not but I could probably find some would that be for a reflector/hood or to attach the lights too?
To attach lights to, to aid in removing heat from pcb.
They’re kind of similar, but I have a few specific models I would recommend. Not just any ol’ Led strip.
Ahhhh okay that makes sense.
Got any amazon/ other links to the strips you’re talking about?
not that,try searching this…bxebl1120l35e4000-c
and that is the long strips, they do have shorter strips and different spectrums.
