Jacks 321 In flower

So Ive noticed I run into an issue when transitioning to flowering with Jacks. I do not use bloom boosters, so i just usually hold steady on the A, Epsom, B. I notice I run into heavy nitrogen, low phosphorus issues.

With Part B containing only Nitrogen and Calcium, could I just cut this down per gallon to counter that? Any thoughts on how low to cut it? Could I drop it entirely for 2 weeks? Or would that lack of calcium be detrimental?

OR should I just do like the schedule suggests, and use the bloomboost from now on?

I haven’t ran into that issue, but I am also running a bloom booster from GH with it. I wont add any this run and see what it does.

I’ve had 2 plants that I’ve had to back off the cal nitrate. Dropped down to 1.8g/gal. Another plant I had to up the epsom to 2g/gal. You can absolutely adjust to what the plant is telling you it needs or doesn’t need.

I don’t use Jack’s but I do use 3 part dry nutrients and I also run a bloom booster and sometimes depending on what plants looks like I will cut back a little on the Cal-Nitrate. Hope this helps!

I haven’t been thru a full cycle with Jacks yet (in veg now) but I’d reduce or increase the components as needed from what the plants are showing. I’d try dropping the cal nitrate some like @Bobbydigital said.

Would you recommend a bloom boost be used, in general? For bigger, better yields? Or is that just a selling point?

I used fox farms bloom boosters (beastie blooms, cha Ching) with Jack’s on one plant (GDP) and not on the other (gold leaf) and the gold leaf put out 2 more ounces than the one I used bloom booster on.

Hard to say if they did anything being two different strains but gold leaf did just fine without them.

I plan on using a tiny bit of bloom boosters, just because I have them leftover from my Advanced Nutrients days. Just small doses at start of flowering (Bud Ignitor), mid flower (Big Bud), late flowering (Overdrive), not at every watering, just a little every couple weeks. After I run out, will try a grow without them.

I use them to increase size and yield, but I may also be getting a little of the “placebo effect”! Since I use it on all of them now, the only thing I have to compare to was a totally different setup when I didn’t use them and I am sure they are bigger now!

If you want to try a bloom booster then try this

2g of part a
2g of part b
2g of epsom salt
1.2g of MKP(monopotassium phosphate)

@dbrn32 beat me to it. Use MKP, you can follow green Gene’s chart for Jack’s it’s a reliable source.

Also as said above read the plant cut back the cal nitrate and boost up the part A a bit if you feel it’s showing deficiencies.
Although at this stage I would do a good flush first with ph’d water to reset.

I haven’t ran the jacks yet I’m running my trusty chemgro 3 part dry (@Holmes what are you using? Mega crop or something?)

It’s interesting because I run heavy compared to all of you at my peak I’m running 4g of cal nitrate and 4g of mag sulfate as well as 4g of my main nutrient, will be Intresting to run it vs the jacks when I get a chance next round.

Ive noticed you do feed yours quite a bit heavier than Jacks, must be with the allocation of those parts? Different make up npk values?

I purchased that from amazon, and ended up just buying an 8oz tub of Jacks BlossomBoost ONLY because i can get that in 3 days, the quickest I was seeing for the MKP was Jan 13th. Most of my window will be missed then. So this run will probably be jacks booster, next run i will use MKP.

Valid call on the booster situation.

Not sure why chemgro uses so much when Jack’s uses so little and not sure why GH uses even less but I definitely want to run the Jack’s next round.
I’m going to run 4 plants in my 4x5 next run, two strains one ill pick one my girls gonna pick I think if she feels like it, I’ll run Jack’s on two plants one of each strain and chemgro on the other two. See who fairs better.
Jacks is easier to get and cheaper by a bit, it also uses less grams per gallon so that adds up but if it under performs compared to my chemgro then I’ll just stick with the chemgro.

Come this summer I think @Not2SureYet will have a pretty good idea of what he likes in the GH vs the jacks.
And @Holmes says he’s running masterblend so I Geuss I have lots to experiment with to find the best 3 part dry nutrient.
Alot of people on AFN use monster crop as well I believe.

MKP is needed on my end Aswell I just can’t justify spending more money right now lol

This is the info I got from JR Peter’s about running the bloom booster in the first two weeks . Looks like it might work in your situation since it’s reducing the cal/nit and increasing P
