Can anyone tell me if they ever seen anything like this? Is this seedling dead?
Oh dear, it’s looks like it sprouted sideways. I would cover the root and try to stand up the seedlings head but the yellowing is worrisome. Give it a try and hope for the best. Good luck!
Thanks, yeah i’ve never seen this before. I just put a light on, hopefully it grows up toward the light. The other seedling sprouted with the seed still completely on. I sprayed it will a little water to hopefully soften it up. I am not a fan of seedling stage
It’s the most stressful period for a lot of us too
Looks bad. I’d try to add some dirt to cover up everything but the top, and hope for the best. If it doesn’t look better in a couple days I’d start over.
Prop it up and fill it in. The fuzzy little root looks ok. Put a humidity dome it looks like the membrane is still on the cotyledons.
I propped it up, and covered the root. It hasn’t reached up toward the light yet. The seed casing is still stuck, but barely. I moistened it, but I can’t pry it off without pulling the whole root out. I got the seed casing off of the other one, but the cotyledons are still stuck together.
I’ve taken really fine surgical scissors and had to cut the membrane between the cotes.
That’s about all you can do is cover and hope for the best as far as I know . Yeah seedling stage is frustrating for me to. It’s the patience and sometimes less is more part. Everything is happening underground and it seems like something is wrong why it isn’t growing faster . What am I doing wrong? Am I doing anything wrong?
Haha man you’re not lying. Those are my exact thoughts. I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. She actually has started going up toward the light just enough that I can tell she is still alive. The other is just barely starting to spread her cotyledons enough to tell she is still alive too. Keep your fingers crossed for me haha.
That seedling will grow replant it in to the soil
Agreed, then forum search and read “dome watering seedlings”, good practice.
She lives, now do not waterboard her.
Rebuilding soil mounded up to cotyledons, also recommended for added support during critical stage.
Merry Christmas.
So far it seems like they are gonna pull through. I’m seeing normal healthy growth on both (knock on wood). Man I love this forum. Nothing but genuine people on here. I appreciate all the help from everyone.
It’s a sketchy time and they’re so delicate. We all hate it!! Nerve racking as hell!!
Keep yourself from watering and over loving your girl! It’s hard but she’ll appreciate it!
