Is my light to low?

I have my light set at 24" above my solo cups. Is that to low? Im using a HLG 260 v2 rspec and lux is 2800 at the top of the cups.

Hey @Khaos850 what is the area you are using?

HOW MUCH LIGHT DO YOUR CANNABIS PLANTS REQUIRE?

Clones and seedlings: 5,000–7,000 lux
Vegetative growth: 15,000–50,000 lux
Flowering: 45,000–65,000 lux
Maximum: 75,000 lux

@LateNightGardner I’m in a 4x4x6.5. I realize I will need to add more light shortly but my concern right now is if its to much light for my spouts and need to be raised up at all?

Hi! I’m not like an expert by any means- but do you have any close up pictures of the babies
Are the wilting or turning yellow?
Are they stretching?

I can’t be much help as I use a PAR meter and set my lights to ppfd levels.
I have absolutely no idea what the LUX conversions are.
Thanks for the tag.

I check the HLG light map and you should be in range.

Check your temps and humidity to keep the vapor pressure deficit within range for seedlings.
VPD from 0.4 to 0.8 kPa: Early Vegetative Growth / Propagation (Low Transpiration)

Check your VPD here

I also use the HLG 260 after transplanting to find home I run light about 27" an 50% on the driver output. Slowly dial up output in time. Also light will end up around 21", Watch plant response you will know to raise or lower the light a little. have a meter but never used it.

I don’t see a humidifier in there. They might be drying out. Check your VPD, I’d bet your humidity is too low.
By looking closely at your hygrometer your at 72F and 30% humidity.
They are cooking in there.
VPD over 1.6: Danger Zone (Over Transpiration)

They have not broke soil yet

If this helps, i used my 260xl for many grows and had to pay attention daily to height. In my current grow i went with a HLG65 and it really made it much less an issue and did real good. Shortly after transplant i put the 260xlr in at min and slowly increased to full power by Flip time.

@LateNightGardner, I’m following a lot of Hellraisers methods and rh is right in range compared to his grows. I do have to run the heater in there though so rh drops a tad while its on. Fo you recommend adding rh? I planned on doming them once they pop.

I can imagine! At this point I’m going to work with the 260 until I need to add more light for this grow. Next time I am going to definitely invest in a smaller light that produces a good amount of heat so I don’t have to run the heater during seedling stage.

If they haven’t germinated they are searching for moisture and heat. Until they pop keep an eye on the VPD for germination. You can use a reptile heat mat to keep them warm or heater.
If you are in late stage flower you want low humidity due to tight flower growth or you can get mold and fungus.
Use a root protection product like GH Rapid root or Biotanicare Hydroguard, natural bacterial root inoculant and water treatment that helps suppress and resist damping off diseases in soil and hydroponic gardens. Use with every watering — from seedling to harvest — to create a healthy, disease-free environment.

You don’t need a light to germ the seed. If your light meter reads DLI I would set the seedling stage at 15 DLI and increase that through the growth stages.

I have it on only to get any heat I can but its not helping much so I may shut it off to help slow the soil drying out

According to my phone app, in order to get 15dli at the top of the plant, I’d have to lower the light to roughly 6" above it. That seems very close? I do have the hlg 260 turned all the way down.

@Khaos850
What app do you use?
I measure PPFD and DLI
my app recommends making a diffuser, that may change your readings. Have you made a diffuser? Its really easy, just tape a strip of white paper around the top of your phone so it covers the front facing camera and tape in the back

I use the photone app.

Yes that’s what I have
I would definitely recommend doing the diffuser
It made a world of difference on my readings
