Just read your thread and you have a great grow going on! My mom who taught me farming,was a buckeye from Akron, so you must be okay for a flatlander! Carry on!

Nile River Journey Day 90:

Good Morning from the Valley of the Kings! We’re in week 5 of flower and the ladies are looking great.

I’ve been watering and feeding in the 6.5 to 6.8 range and runoff has been .1 to .2 lower each time. Adjusted the Ph this morning to 6.7 and runoff was 6.5 on all 3.

About a week ago Aurora (NL) started to show signs of what looks to be a Magnesium deficiency. Rust colored spots on the middle aged leaves. I watered with Cal/Mag twice on their “water only day” to try to supplement them as I’ve heard that plants need more Cal/Mag later in flower. I also saw a video claiming red stems were also a sign of Magnesium deficiency. If this is potentially an issue, please chime in.

The pictures don’t show the spots very well but it’s only the Northern Lights and other than that, she seems fine and budding nicely and frosting up

The Tut girls are following right along and looking great.

Nefertiti’s buds are small but frosty. She’s going to be the smallest producer but I’m still pleased with how she’s doing.
Ankhesenamun Is doing great also but her Sativa dominance is growing more slender buds but they are filling out more every day.

I still have 3 weeks on the General Hydroponics feeding chart and, of course, as a new grower, I’m wondering how long I have. The pistils are still mostly white with a little orange mixed in. Trichomes are still mostly clear with just a few ambers sprinkled in. I don’t think I need to really start paying attention for a couple weeks but the development and maturation is fun the watch.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment.

Happy growing!

Looks like an issue that calmag will fix. Although there seems to be some debate whether it actually be a calcium and/or magnesium deficiency, or the nitrogen in calmag that actually fixes the issue.

I’m not advocate of going to straight water for two weeks prior to harvest or anything like that. But I also use an organic nutrient line. So there’s probably some differences in end results either way. So take that for what you want. As long as you see pistil production on the upswing she’s packing weight, so you really don’t want to be starving nutes. When you start to see more colored pistils than white is a good indicator of when to start monitoring the trichs. Also a good time to start thinking about shifting to ripening feed schedule. Whether that be a water only, or just going to a portion of the line at reduced ppm. That’s something you kind of have to decide for yourself, as there are many varied opinions. Personally, I like to ditch nitrogen all together and go with reduced bloom nutes and some molasses up until about 5-7 days prior tho harvest. Then I’ll go to just molasses or water only. I see some value in the reduced ppm, but I’d definitely rather be late on this than early. Again, that’s personal preference. There are some very good growers that swear by 2 weeks water only and have great results. But misjudgment on time to harvest will definitely cost you yield. It happens quite regularly, so find whatever method you feel most comfortable with. Keep good notes and adjust on next grow if need be.

@dbrn32

Thank you. That’s a great explanation. :relaxed:
I’m not terribly worried about the spots. They’re not getting any worse and it says it takes weeks for deficiency to show so I assume it will take as long show sings of improvement. Overall the plant is doing well, she’ll probably be my biggest yeild of the 3.

The spots that are there probably won’t go away. But you can monitor any new growth.

In spite of the spots they look beautiful @SilentHippie! :green_heart: :seedling:

I had that same problem but I didn’t catch it in time and it made my harvest airy. I think mine was a ph lock out

@Macadon
My runoff has stayed consistent and I’ve even drifted it a little to try to avoid lockout. I’m hoping that’s not the issue but we’ll see.

A little bud porn this morning and a question

My trichomes are starting to turn cloudy with a few amber mixed in. My feeding schedule says I have two more weeks of nutrients before flush. I’ve read that I want to stop feeding when the trichomes are all cloudy and just use water until harvest.

My question is: If my trichomes turn cloudy before I reach the end of my feeding schedule do I just stop or continue to feed? And if I stop feeding, I have crystal KoolBloom that I it says to use a week before flush. Should I skip to that week and finish out that way?

You’re going to get a lot of varied opinions on that. If you’re choosing to run a flush though, you’re about at the time to do it.

The frost looks great, nice job!

I would go by what the plant is telling you not exactly what the bottle says…I’d skip to that week and then start flush…or maybe just start the flush… @dbrn32 is right they look ready…really nice!

Thanks for the advice guys @WillyJ @dbrn32. I’ve been enjoying watching the girls flower and didn’t think they’d finish this fast! I’d say we’re about 50% cloudy on 2 of them and mostly cloudy on the other. I definitely want to flush at least once before harvest. I think I’ll skip to the last week and stop.

That should put me 2 weeks out from harvest roughly. Does that sound about right?

If mostly milky and starting to get amber…

I was reading an old post of yours and you mentioned that you had experience with FloraKleen.
I think I’m a week or two from harvest and I’m going to stop feeding.

I fed them Monday, light water yesterday and will water again Monday. My question is do I use the FloraKleen when water next or do I water normally and use it closer to harvest?

@WillyJ @bob31 @dbrn32 feel free to offer advice/ experience, or anyone for that matter.

I don’t use it or flush my plants, but my understanding is that They recommend it to be used a couple of days before harvest in that scenario.

They sure look tasty @SilentHippie sorry I can’t help with the nutrient question, I’ve never used that one.
