In hydro do the roots touch the water

Yes they do, in time. You need to keep about a 1 1/2 inch gap between the net pot and the water. The roots will grow down into the water, but you need to keep the air space at the top. Hope this helps

this is what they grow up to, usually keep the water above the air stones and below the basket by about a inch or too.

Plant in water will rot. Level should be just below the cage…as others stated…1" or so.
The air bubbles will keep the above water level space moist and the plant will grow to the water.
Do it right and the roots will fill your bucket.

So once the roots get longer can they be keeped under water and the air stone underwater

Absolutely correct. Once the roots get to the water, that’s where the live. There should be a 1 1/2" or so air gap between the bottom of the net pot and the water level :sunglasses:
