Is the a more natural/safer way to lower my PH? Small amounts of lime juice perhaps? In one gallon it take like 10ml to get me to 5.9. Tap or pond runs about 6.6. Trying to reach a steady 5.8.
Thanks Jbum

dolomite pulverized limestone for stubborn acidic soil. No too much, just a little until you get used to it’s affect on pH.
Phosphoric acid is concentrated, and should get you at the desired ph within 10-15 DROPS. (Maybe a few more) It’s plant safe, and can be found at your local hydro store. @Shatter @Jbum
Man, I just looked at your avatar. What happened to Ronald?
Oh man he got on that shit! You know hanging at all those inner city Mickey D’s…
Most be hitting the straw hard
Wow, it takes me 15 drops to get from 7.3 to 6.5 with GH PH down. PH up on the other hand takes about 10mL to get from 5.9 to 6.5
Buhahahaha
Interesting. Just goes to show the different minerals they contain I reckon.
Takes me about 8 ml to get to 5.8. Grimace selling Ronald that shit haha I crack myself up
Maybe your meter needs recalibrating?
I have found that different brands of ph up or down are different strengths.
I’m getting the same PH every time with my pond or well water for that matter bottled water as well. Just seems to take a lot to lower. Can PH down cause mute burn?
If you’re having to add that much I’d say it’s a lower strength. I use lemon or lime juice but it takes more of that than the Ph Down. If it can cause a toxicity, you’ll see signs of phosphorus toxicity in the leaves. I’ve never used it though, so someone else may have more info on that.
Should be monitoring your PPM’s (and pH) so you get a feel for what works. Both runoff and feeds.
In a pinch
Fresh Lemon juice
My apologies, I misunderstood the question, forget the the dolomite, that’s to “raise” pH or in other words, neutralize acidic conditions, I use H3PO4 (phosphoric acid) diluted to about 20%, another (as mentioned above) is H2SO4 (sulfuric acid), and for the other direction (pH plus) I use KOH (potassium hydroxide). Citric acid and others I found have an insufficient pKa (acid dissociation constant).
Sorry for the confusion, dyslexia’s a bitch!
