will the 3 1/2 gallon buckets be ok to use for the white widow autos, or should I go with 5 gallon? Also will the 3 1/2 g buckets be ok for non auto fems like big bud or gold leaf? any input from those who used the 3.5 gal and problems they came acrossed.
From what I’ve been told 3 gallon buckets are the perfect size for growing autos indoors. But outdoors 5 gallon is the size you would want.
I use 5 gallon pots for autos if I have the room
I don’t use buckets I use tote boxes and net pots but my totes are 27 Gallon for 4-6 plants ph and water temp stays more stable with greater volume of water and in a 3 1/2 Gallon bucket I suspect there would only be 2 Gal or so of nutrient solution. That in my logic would heat fast and need more adjusting just a thought
Many are using totes, this may be as you mentioned for stability. Let me ask you a question cause I don’t know the answer. If the water and air is bubbling 24/7 Just add your nutrients to the water. (properly measured out and ph is in range). Some people on you tube feed the girls either a couple times a day, or week for only a couple of minutes. If you add nutrients to the water, how often do you change your water? And how would I correct water temp if it gets to warm? I ask for I am like really burnt. Just cant grasp it. Just cant see feeding for a couple of minutes without risk. Please educate an old burney. on the 27 gal, are you doing fems or autos?
also one last question, How many gallons of water is goes into a 27 gl tote?
Hydroponics is broken into several different systems the main ones are NFT nutrient film technique : this system has several approaches but basically nutrient solution moves over roots in fine film letting them absorb air and nutrients arguably this system includes top feed and Aeroponics roots aren’t entirely submerged all the time. Ebb and Flow requires medium for roots to stay in lecca coco rock wool a timer is set to flood a table which plants sit on the timer pumps nutrient solution/water up to flood table then stops letting table ebb/drain water either into res or waste. This system can allow for 1 or 2 feedings a day or recirculate so every Flow cycle is nutrient solution.
Next and most common is DWC Deep Water Culture this system has roots sitting in aerated nutrient solution 24/7 this means plants are always able to eat nutrient solution is changed every 10 days or so and in between topped off and ph adjusted. Changing res is adding water correct dose of nutrients then adjusting ph with either ph up or ph down since plants consume nutrients/minerals ph changes over time less nutrient solution the faster it changes this is also true for temps harder to warm up large cup than a small cup
I am currently running DWC system my filled res is about 22 Gallons my plants consume easily gallon a day of water at this point my ph remains mostly stable after first 48hr’s for days only changing a .1 or so every 4 days or so and I only adjust if it get .3 out I adjust my top offs to 5.8ph and use cold water this in turn lowers water temps I grow from clones I keep mother plants in soil
Wonderful! EXACTLY the answers I was looking for. I truly appreciate your time and attention, along with the super quick response. You seem to be good people, this info isn’t in vain. Just ordered a Meizi? 460 watt leds. Looking to grow some trees.
you will really love those lights ive had great luck with the meizhi leds
I hope so. you can tell my questions point to DF rookie. That’s ok my outdoors girls LST are big. Learn as you grow and from previous mistakes. These lights I heard yield is a gram a watt or better. If all goes well. Is this really true or a myth, I am sure they speak this in a wet weight and not dry. With the wwa’s what can I look forward to if all goes well on a dry harvest?
My last white widow I got 2.55 oz dry with 3-300 watt meizhi leds and 1-600 watt led and I had other stuff that was going to this with her before I cut it down
nice, I better buy some more lights
@Oldstoner has 2 of the 460s and has had great grows
Drooling, sweet. Not bad at all nice girls.
Yes sir they work great for me I put 2 extras in my cart and am waiting for a price drop or sale just to have extras in case
