Humidity advice needed

Hello everyone. Another story of "It was all good, until it wasn’t ", that I am desperately trying NOT to be a part of.
Here’s the deal, Newbie, 41/2 weeks above soil. Autos, Banana K, and Cheese! FFOF bottom 50%, FFHF top 50. 1st serving of 1/4 charted amounts of nutes, FF branded, last Sunday, Cal/Meg water on Wednesday. Exiting ppms 1700, and 2000. Water Ph’d 5.9. At that time Humidity was a steady 50%.
Today, for the 2nd in a row Humidity has been 64% to 70%.
Put a small humidifier in tent, didnt help. Added a Eva-dry device, didn’t help. The girls aren’t sitting in water, drain pans are dry. Did notice 1 small discolored leaf, but girls look visually okay. Oh yeah, temps are 77 to 80 steady inside tent and room temp is 73 degrees. Exhausted air being ducted outside, I have a 2nd Hydrometer thats says room is Humidity is at 57%, shows tent as well at currently 63%. Fan in tent for movement, sometimes open tent and have additional fan moving things around a bit. LEDS have been increased to 100%, girls have begun to flower .
Should I try a humidifier for the whole room, does it need to be cooler than it is, would adding a window ac unit do it.
I know i should be dialing back the Humidity and I’m a long way from 45%. All comments appreciated

I am newbie as well, so take all this with a grain of salt but i have learned a great deal following some of the members

These things are standing out:

I believe for soil the range is 6.2-6.5

If you are looking to lower humidity I am pretty sure a humidifier even with a humidistat is used to raise a humidity or keep at/above 45. Did you mean dehumidifier and still having the issue?

Yes, dehumidifier

Runoff ph was 5.9 after watering, weird to me as well.

I figured as much I just wanted to be sure. I think the specs of the dehumidifier will help some of these experts get you dialed in

If it’s not pulling enough moisture out of your air with the current exchange you have with intake/exhaust. My best guess is you might need something a little bigger. But be careful bc they throw off a lot of heat, if you set it in the room where the intake air is coming from that may even be more ideal.

Again wait for others to weigh-in. I just have a lull at work and figured I would share my 2 cents.

Runoff was a ph of 5.9, I thought you were referring to water in @ ph of 5.9… I won’t dare comment on runoff as this is still a mystery to me lol

Really appreciate it, leaning towards dehumidifying the room that tent sits in , since it feeds its air from there. Thanks for confirming my thoughts

Alright man how r u today. I’m no pro either working on 2nd harvest now. But I will say I do use the same type of soil mixture and at 4 1/2 weeks have u flushed yet? That could be driving your Ph down ? I have had issues with ff soil and ph on both my grow, and it was a sign of salt build up. Also saw you have so me high ppm # is another indicator of that might be your problem. Also have you feed any nutes yet ?
Now on humidity if your at 50-60 are your fine. I believe u will not need to drop to 45 until you hit flower, flower. I have a large dehumidifier in the room my tent is in. Call it a lung room and that’s what I exchange air flow with. So if I keep that area at good numbers helps keep my tent and good numbers aswell. Plus I from in my basement so I’m always dealing with humidity issues

You need a dehumidifier – to decrease the RH.

If you are still in veg, your fine.
AC can lower RH also but a dehumidifier is always a good thing to use.
I would recommend reading up on VPD if you have the time.
You can find all sorts of different charts on the web, this is one of the one’s that I use for reference.
Happy Growing!

Thanks everyone.
Update: put in a room dehumidifier in the room where tent sits. Major improvement…52 to 53 tent and 45 in the room…temps study 78 to 80 degrees. Currently have tent open and room closed since room climate has been optimized. Thanks for sharing :+1:

Thats a fact, soil supposedly ph’d 6.2 to 6.5…but i will say i have an entry level meter, and always check behind with the 2nd test using ph kit, reliability some say questionable.

Welcome to the community , the best way to control temperature an humidity inside tent Is to control it in room you’re pulling your fresh air from.( Lung room) Good luck :+1::v:
