How to Figure out Fertilizer?

What amount of Bergmans plant food do I use on three plants or less? I’m sprouting indoors, then moving outside. I bought Bergmans plant food, wondering exactly how many plants is the dose on the Root Protector talking about?

Not familiar with Bergman’s, just wanted to say Hello and Welcome to ILGM forum. :+1:

Hello all!!!- I am first timer here. I too am a little confused about Bergmans Plant Food. I have all of them and just curious when to start using the seeding fertilizer and so forth… Do I start using as soon as they pop? and is the measurements per gallon of grow pot or… Thanks in advance!!!

I don’t use Bergmans but based on the chart posted above the amount to use is based on the amount of water your mixing it in…1 quart/liter or 1 gallon etc.

If your starter soil has basic nutrients that should get you at least a couple weeks before needing those nutrients but again I don’t have experience using those and my starter soil is good for at least 2 weeks before I even think of adding nutrients.

Thanks so much Sky Diver. Is anyone ever giving their seedlings a gallon of water? I suppose it pertains to how many you are growing…?

Haha
I’ll bet there have been some do that over the years…
Yea tough to measure out .5 grams for 1 quart and with 2 seedling plants you would really only need maybe 1/5th of that…

Great, thank you! I hopefully will have around 7-12 seedlings if all goes well.

Thanks! Great info!

Evening Skydiver, hope all is well.
I was able to find this on the forum, however still a little confused on how much I water each plant. I have 8 seedlings, so if i make a gallon of nutes how much of nute water do i give each plant?
Thanks for any advise!

Soil schedule I would use.

Seedling - 1/2 tsp per gallon

Grow - 2/3 tsp per gallon ( you could use 1/2 tsp per gallon early and then increase to 3/4 tsp per gallon in week 4 of veg cycle)

Bloom - 3/4 - 1.0 tsp per gallon ( use less at beginning of flower and 1.0 tsp about week 4

Boost 1/4 tsp per gallon ( to be added to the Bloom )

I’m sure you don’t need to give seedlings a gallon of water. You will drown them. I use a gallon of water for mature plants. What size pot do you have? Please post a picture so we can see what your working with.

The information you are reading is what you would put in a gallon of water. That doesn’t mean give that to each of your plants. We need more info on your setup. :v:And By the way welcome to the best place you can be!! Happy growing and keep on keeping on! :sunglasses::v::call_me_hand:

I will get pics up asap. I am starting in closet and moving outdoor when weather turns.

I’m no expert I’m on my fourth grow but I will speak from my experience only. There’s a lot of experts here. Like I said welcome to the best place you can be! :sunglasses::v::call_me_hand:

Are the seedlings in plastic or peat pots?
How old are they?
I doubt you would even need a quart of water for 8 seedlings depending how old / small they are.
Also what medium are they in? Coco Coir or soil etc
You may not want to be feeding them anything yet other than water depending on your situation

right now they are in cups under 18/6 lighting in soil. Currently 8 seedlings that appear to be healthy to me.

Lol yea maybe by a couple minutes

Here is how I water seedlings mostly.
I take it they are in plastic solo cups?
Are there holes in the bottom and lower sides of cups?
If so and you have a plant saucer or even a pan etc put them in the saucer pan or whatever and cover the entire floor of the saucer maybe 1/4 inch and they will suck up (wick) the water into the soil. Plants roots seek water so this way the roots will grow down.
If all of that water is sucked up in a few minutes to 5 or so add a little more and so on. Once they are full…remove any extra water. You don’t need to saturate the soil all the way to the top but I shoot for about 3/4 up. I use Cow Pots and can easily see how wet they are and therefore the soil too.
