How to calculate how much my hps will cost me on eletric

Hey guys was wanting to know how to get an estimate of how much it would cost me to run one 400 watt hps thanks!

Per month roughly cost is about 25-40$ to run unless on 18/6 it may be closer to 30-75$ per month, @Niala @MacGyverStoner can you guys help out here please and thank you

It depend on how much is the rate by kilowatt/hour that charge your local electricity distributor , it will be shown on your electricity bill @Swan1234

The formula is : Number of hours of utilisation × Number of days ×( Number of watts have your lights ÷1000 in your case 0.4). That’s gone a give you how much kilowatt your lamp consum, for 30 days on a 18/6 schedule it’s 216 kilowatt multiply by rate from your local electricity distributor and “voilà” you gone a know how much it will cost you approximately.

This is just a basic way to know… had an old-school grower tell me this.

The first numbers in the size of your bulb generally will tell you what it’s going to cost you.

100 - $10
250 - $25
400 - $40
600 - $60
1000 - $100
1200 - $120

And that is very, very close, my 400 watt HPS, cost me around $40 a month to run.
